No, it's not completely correct. The E190 pay rate at $41/hour is correct, but there is also the footnote below the payscales: "correction to above payscale: First year pay for all aircraft on the "East" (except for the E190) is a flat salary of $3,000/month"

So as a first year employee, on short call reserve, the monthly guarantee is 76 hours. $3000/month divided by 76 hours is $39.47 an hour. The $25/hour rate only applies when you exceed the monthly guarantee. With the way pilot manning and reserve coverage are, there is no one on first year pay for the East aircraft other than the E190 who is exceeding monthly guarantee. That's why on a pay per hour basis, it's slightly better for anyone on first year pay to be on the E190.

So does the pay scale show $25/hour for the 757? Yeah it does. But it also shows the same rate for the first year on the B737, A320, and A330. The first year pilot will never break guarantee and exceed the flat salary of $3000/month. Not to mention there is essentially a zero percent chance that a first year pilot could hold a position on the 757/767 or A330!

Exactly. No shortage anywhere you look for people applying for these positions. Regionals, military, corporate, furloughee's etc...

A need for 52 pilots... There's 43 left in the 2008 hiring pool with an unknown furlough number that could take slots, the wild card of some furloughed westies coming east. Probably there won't be a need for new applications for this round. 52 slots should be easily filled by these 3 groups.

They could have zero pay, or P2P, for the first year.... they'd get 1,000's of applications.

That's what happens when there are too many people doing "what they love". Yes, the airlines do love you, too.

i think you forget how poor the regional airlines are in terms of lifestyle and outlook. yes, first year pay sucks at the majors, but who's fault is that, mangements' or the unions' for allowing it to happen.
why are the regionals so poorly paid for FO's? because they can, CFI's want out of poverty level wages, therefore the regionals can get away with it. it all starts at the bottom and doesn't end until second year FO at the majors at the very soonest in some books, longer in others. it's a whole other discussion probably meant for another thread but not here.

That's pretty funny, I took a paycut from Flight Instructing to be an FO with BEX and that was 13 years ago.
