Yeah a little confusing on the way they worded it..
Sounded like 19 vacancies, some for the 717, some widebody, and some for retirements....
But it didn't really say if they were new hires or displacements/ new hires ....
Either way, I think there will be atleast a little hiring.....

I have this feeling though that HAL is one of, if not the toughest, nuts to crack out there in terms of landing a job. Thoughts?

In terms of getting that final nod, the issue here is nobody seems to know what they are looking for. They interview a ton of people for just a few slots.. I think a lot of guys get their hopes up because they feel they did well at the interview. Only to wait and wait for no call. Our process has been interesting to say the least.. That may be changing.. For the better is anyone's guess.
But no, you don't have to be an astronaut or military fighter pilot with your name on the side of a F18 to get on.

In terms of the actual interviews, it's not that hard... I don't recall any technical questions or anything like that. Compared to what I've heard about other airline interviews, heck even a lot of regionals... Our interview is very laid back..

Me too, Ive done it twice and would give my first born for a career there. With the word on the street that the process is being overhauled and the upcoming vacancy bid looking quite small, will they spin up the machine again or pull from the existing pool? Thanks!

Every regional CA and FO I meet either through jumpseat or work says they are holding out for Delta. One guy actually told me that he was varsity in high school and he wasn't going to JV now. He was referring to United and AA. Said he wouldn't even consider Hawaiian. That's how I'm gonna get into HAL. Could there actually be room for everyone at Delta?
. I plan on j-seating out to HI LOTS this fall. Peace
