We will take a brief break from hiring in the spring and then will resume the hiring process in July. From July to December of next year we anticipate hiring an additional 66 which will bring the total number of new hires to approximately 91 over the next year.
I want to make clear to you that the numbers mentioned above are a good snapshot of the growth we are planning for with the information we have as of today. Once again, and I cannot overemphasize this, these numbers could change either way as they are HIGHLY dependant on guys returning from LOAs, retirements, the economy, oil prices, competition, and other factors.
Dang! I wanna get picked up by Alaska soooo bad but I don't have any relatives that work there. I guesss that I just have to keep applying for the next 5 years and then us regular Joes may have a shot.

18 out of 32 isn't great odds especially if these guys were supposed to be referred and the best ones. why is the hiring ratio so low?

While I have to agree Nepotism-R-Us, most of the "Jrs." who work here are good guys and good pilots.

Does anyone know if that planned round of interviews in mid-December ever took place or not. Have not heard anything except for that initial round of interviews in October that resulted in the 18 new hires. Just looking for an update since it has been a while since anything has been posted. Thanks!

The interviews happened. All classes have been filled. Last class will be Feb21st. Sounds like they may allow updates to app or maybe have everyone reapply. Hopefully the CP's office will have more say this time vs HR running the entire show! Next round of interviews may not happen till April/May or later. Probably no more classes till late summer or into fall. I will not hold my breath for any of this to happen at AS.

Is 18 the total number hired during last round or is it something else?

Thanks in advance.

Gents, Can anyone confirm that this is the website to check.

https://careers.alaskaair.com/Alaska-CareerOps.asp

I'm assuming that when they start accepting applications, the job will post to the site.

Warthawg,
That is the correct site. Check it daily and when they post a listing for First Officers it will be on there. You can go on the website now and at least set up a profile and upload a resume. I applied last go around and I can now go on my profile and it shows that I've applied. I was never called for an interview, but am hopefull that one is coming sometime this year!
