Default Pilot Pool

I am planning on separating after the completion of this tour (summer 15). I have been told it is possible to get hired into the "pool" while still on active duty then start a training class as soon as you are available.

Is there any truth to this? If so, what should I put as my available date on the applications? How long will I be allowed to sit in the pool before I have to start all over again?

My application now says I'm available summer of 15, if I move that date up and try to go into the pool, does it make me a more attractive candidate?

Thanks

You and I are in very similar situations. The advice that has been given to me is to put the earliest date you are available to interview and be up front about your actual date that you can attend class. I know that isn't a concrete answer, but it is the best that I have gotten.
I am putting about 2 months prior to terminal date for available. Seems like average pool times are from 2-6 months now, but will probably be more later. If and when I do get the call, I am going to tell them very plainly my terminal and end of service dates.

Should I put the earliest date I can interview, or the earliest date I can start class? These two dates could be several months apart. Right now, I have down the earliest date I could start class, should I change it to earliest I can interview?

Sorry, I hadn't had my third cup of coffee yet. Reviewing the message that was sent to me, that was the advice that was given to me, first day you can attend class should be your availability date. Your application should "pop" for an interview call prior to that date.

This is coming from a dude I know that got hired by united. He put "immediately" and got called for the interview right before his terminal started. He is starting class this month.

Based on that, I am going to put the start date of terminal leave/TAD and then adjust to immediately as the time gets closer.

Terminal leave date should suffice.
