Default Floats in Alaska

Any juice on who and the time requirements for float jobs in Alaska.

Are they looking exclusively at your float time or will they count your land turbine, piston time in as well.

Looking for a seasonal job if possible.

There is a website that offers a wealth of information regarding Alaska employment. There is a membership fee. It is very affordable and helped me land my Alaska employment.

www.flyalaska.com

Hope this helps.

I belong to the same website. I have heard as low as 50 float time but most operations are 250 or 500 floats.

It depends of course how bad they need some one for example a I know a Air taxi that was saying 1000 hrs and some one left and they hired two more with less than a 100 float time but good experince and was flying wheels for them at the time.

Gotta question:
3K hr ATP, here.... not much float time. 1K in AK time, tundra. I'm going to Seaborne for an interview tomorrow (Twotter floats, f/o). I figure the PIC multi turbine float time might be worth something, but is the F/O time worth anything? Just wondered.... it is float time, albeit right side?

Main goal: Alaska next season in floats. Will multi float time hurt in search of a single float job? What are the options for multi float jobs in AK? Most everything I came accross was 206/Beaver/cub stuff....

Thanks!

Ronin

I know that Promech and Wings of Alaska fly single turbine and piston Otters. I don't know many twin float jobs. As far as SIC time I would say it would help you get into the left seat next year. Your 1000 hours of AK time is gold.

As always the best AK resource is www.flyalaska.com

I would say float time is float time. I have been seeing AK operators looking pretty hard for pilots this summer.
A few are still looking for pilots for this summer!
