Will internal LOR's help get an interview?

BOGSAT 04-01-2014 11:55 AM

The résumé/LORs attachment has a 1.3 MB max. With my résumé and 4 internals scanned together as one document, I was forced to reduce the scan quality (image) to meet the 1.3 limit.

Question for those of you willing to share: from what I understand, most folks that I know who have been called just had only a résumé uploaded. I was wondering if my legible, but degraded résumé/LOR attachment is an issue?

Anyone have any advice/experiences with degraded quality and still got called? Sad, but it does worry me that that may be affecting my chances.

Also, anyone willing to share if they got called on résumé only, or résumé with attached LORs?

Just wondering if I should drop my internal LORs (save them to hand carry) to improve my résumé "image" and possibly my chances?

Thoughts? Thx in advance!

The interview process changed somewhat in Oct so be careful with gouge before that. See the "US Airways calls" thread in the major forum. I think around post 3327 or 3377 has a good write up.

The HR and pilots that interview in PHX and CLT seem to be the same group of people from what I could tell during training.

I don't know for sure about LOR's, but I believe that my LOR helped me get a call.

I overheard the HR folks stating they are shooting to hire 310 pilots for 2014. The hiring process will probably remain separate until SOC is done, however indoc will move to DFW sometime this year.

If it hasn't been stated yet, make sure you apply to every open window. The way it works is the open window accepts apps while they call from the last window. If you applied before either of the last two windows (and haven't applied since) you're not going to get called unless you apply again.

It's a user unfriendly application...I'd suggest having your flight time, work history and other applicable info ready because you can't save your progress and the website can time out. Have a PDF of your resume, etc ready to upload too. For mil guys, add your 0.3 conversion beforehand so you don't waste time.

Good luck to everyone trying to get on!

Huey, thanks for the gouge....I've applied under the current window, any idea when they are going to close the May '13 window and call from the current one?

how many have they hired so far in 2014?

Question 1: I have no solid intel on when the current window will close but I've heard rumors of "soon". Sorry I can't provide more but they may be delaying the closing so they can decide if and when to open a new one...ie, future combined hiring hasn't really been 100% hashed out yet. But I'll take an educated guess and say this window will close soon.

2. I don't have exact numbers, but based off of what I've read concerning class sizes since January, I'd put it at around 75-80 so far.

So how does one apply to US Airways now? I applied in the 2 previous windows when they had their own website. Their career site sends you to the new AA/USA site. I created a profile on there, resume, etc. On the AA side it sends you to the pilot credentials page to fill out the info. On the USA side when I click apply it just times out and never opens.
