Does anyone know anyone who has gotten a SWA invite without a type?

Default SWA still hiring

There were a few pilots in one of the January classes who did not have the type when they interviewed in October.

Default SWA hiring

Does anyone know the name of the person in charge of hiring at Southwest so I can address my cover letter appropriately, rather than having it read to "whom it may concern". Thanks.

Yes, a very good friend of mine. He was hired contingent upon acquiring the type.

How do LORs work at SWA? I think there is a link to submit them on PilotCredentials, but the application instructions from this week mentioned them being submitted on SWALife. Is the PilotCredentials link only for non-SWA pilots?

Also, do the LORs need to be submitted again during each job window, or are they attached to you permanently once they are submitted?

Thanks!

You cannot have a LOR submitted prior to an invite to interview. In other words, they have NO value until after the interview (i.e., Decision Board.)

This is good gouge. That has been told to me by several of my SWA buds. They said that if I get the interview invite to let them know and that they would submit one. Your references will also get called after the interview, so it is a good idea to prep the waters by letting them know and asking them if they will say the right things.

I thought cover letters are now not really required and even frowned upon....

Yes. But in the interview they asked him why he didn't have it. He had a solid answer. If you get an invite, be prepared for the question.
