I have been here for two years, feel free to ask questions.

This may seem like a stupid question, but here goes....

Does Penair allow beards? I've seen quite a few other Alaska operations that rock beards (practical in a way for winter). A friend might be interviewing there and he isn't clean shaven...

Isn't it a safety issue? I was always told "no beards" in pressurized aircraft becuase the oil in the beard can combust and burn if you've got your O2 mask on...

Lots of foreign carriers allow beards - not, you know, huge bushy things, but well kept beards.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of guys with moustaches, and I flew with a guy in Australia that had a full beard - but he was always getting flak from management about it.

My wife likes the '5 o'clock shadow' thing - always telling me not to shave, but I don't think most HR Airline types would feel the same!

Could anybody share info on the new DEN operation? Schedule, days off, overnights vs daytrips, etc. Could one get DEN based out of training? Thanks

I'm still new here, but I heard DEN is all day trips right now but will go to overnights. I think they still need DEN pilots, it's where most of the new pilots are going.

Talked with the CP, we still need DEN pilots, street CAs possible.

Thanks for your reply. Wondering if 135 PIC counts towards street captain/upgrade, or 121 time only.

Also, do you guys have reserve or does pretty much everyone fly?

For FOs Pdx and ANC each had a reserve line next month, flying lines in all bases had a few days of reserve here and there. I don't know about 135 pic, those would be good questions for the CP.
