Good luck to everyone who applied. You guys (or gals) have some very solid qualifications.

I haven't heard much of anything about the composition of the two upcoming classes, except that everyone is going into the E175. I suspect that many of the new hires will be pilots that received a conditional job offer this spring, but were never assigned a class. There may be a couple of Compass refugees in the mix. On a side note, I heard from one of our maintenance guys that Horizon has hired a couple of ex-Compass mechanics. He reported that they were excellent.

We could use a few of those Compass peeps here - based on the number of memes posted under the Compass section, they clearly have a sense of humor! Maybe that was a requirement to work there?

I vote we do ex compass hiring based off the dankness of their memes. Yeah we know they can fly but can they meme?

I believe that the recent window was primarily an administrative function to switch apps to a new system. Those of us in the pool from Feb-March that had interviewed received an email when apps opened saying that we needed to reapply in the new system within a week if we still wanted to be considered, but that we wouldn't need to reinterview. Of course, word got out that "apps were open" and off we went.

I'm guessing apps in general were not in fact open - they may start looking at some of them in 2021 if they keep doing classes and once they exhaust the hiring pool from previous apps and interviewees, as we were told those of us that had interviewed would be first up when hiring resumed. They also sent out a survey around then suggesting more classes might start in the first quarter of 2021 and wanting to know what we'd been up to and if we were still interested.

I was also given an offer for the Nov 30 class, after I interviewed 9 months ago and received an offer and a class date back then before COVID wiped out classes. Seems I got lucky to squeeze in this year if only 12 or so are being selected. I'm a furloughed E145 FO for reference, and had figured I was hosed on the airlines for a while before I got a call with a class date.

The pilot recruiter page on social media posted this when the announcement opened, so I don't think it just spread on its own with no intent.

"Calling all pilots! We're happy to announce that our Horizon Air pilot application window is now open through November 5th. You can submit an application to: [website link]

Please note that you will need to meet all ATP minimum requirements in order to submit your application. If you are still working to meet the minimum requirements listed in the job description, we encourage you to join our First Officer – Horizon Air Talent Community: https://pilotjobs-alaskaair.icims.com/connect

You may apply to any current pilot listing and only need to submit your application once (you are not applying to a location; domiciles will be determined at a later date). "

So you were a 145 FO elsewhere and wanted to switch over to Horizon earlier this year?

I mostly stay off social media so didn't see that. Thanks for pointing it out. The email we received made it sound like it was just a system switch.

Our airline was about to shut down so it seemed prudent to try to line up other employment, yes (former AX).

Also, several of my friends at Horizon were asked by their chief pilot to send him some recommendations of people who applied in the last window to forward to the hiring department.

Based on what I've heard in the last week, Horizon may also be holding a couple of very small FO classes in January (perhaps four new-hires for the Q400 and four for the jet). No upgrades in the Q400 for the foreseeable future. It's not much, but at least we're not furloughing.

Received an email that applications are still being reviewed and that interviews will be happening over the next couple of months. Wasn't a TBNT, so I'll take that as a small win ... good luck to all
