Sorry to hear the bad news, Qx'ers. For what it is worth, it seems like every company is furlouging in the 10-20% range. Those furloughing only 10% are likely to have a Round 2 of furloughs. The majors are cutting their capacity by 10-20%, their workforces by 10-20%, and therefore it should be no surprise that those numbers have trickled down to the regional carriers as well. My company is doing it, too. For those who work at companies that have not yet announced furloughs, prepare yourselves. The bottom 20% should really look to making a plan B. With any luck, you all at SkyWest and ASA may dodge the furlough bullet, but you would be foolish to plan on no furloughs. The majors are going to keep cutting, and in absence of an actual NWA/DAL merger here real soon, I expect the hurt will be felt at the NWA express carriers too. Lets just do what we can to take care of our fellow pilots, and lets hope none of the legacies go tango uniform. If that happens, things are going to get real ugly.

My prediction is round 2 will be companies folding left and right. The first one to go will be Frontier. It is sad, but they are barely hanging on. Even if fuel drops to $100 a barrel, it is still more than it should be and this weak economy can't sustain it.

Add me to the list, I will wait until furlough then most likely not come back. It is hard to see, esspecially when it comes to having a family, morgage, student loads, car payment, ect... The flying is great, crews are a blast and schedules suck. Good luck to all.

Sadly, I think the first to go will be Midwest. TPG’s doing a better job of running their airline into the ground.
