It appears that Horizon is hiring again with mins at 1200/50. I would assume the hiring is mainly from attrition on the FO side? Does anyone know how long the upgrades are running? APC says oct 2000, is that still accurate?

Apparently they're accepting applications for a class maybe in August sometime, or just this fall.

The upgrade time is long enough that it basically doesn't matter. October of 2000, give or take a year or so.

Does anyone have any info on when Horizon might be interviewing? I applied a few days ago and now see the window appears to have closed.

Closed?

Did the window close already?

The window closed on tuesday. New hire classes are supposed to be starting in august.

Most junior CA is January 2001 hire date. With the top 25% not going anywhere because they've been there for 20 years or better.

They prefer young CFI's or young people from other backgrounds that will be happy to sit there for many years in the right seat and not complain. Medford is a horrible commute from anywhere. If you can live there it is doable.

Horizon Air Pilot Interview Profiles

This was the one (or maybe two) persons hired out of 8 or 9 people that interviewed that day. I happen to know 2 of the people had many more hours both total and multi with clean backgrounds and internal refs. Both had excellent working backgrounds, too. Neither were hired. Local Seattle folks. They were told maybe to go get "some" turbine time. Both were "older". Also, if you are coming from Seattle they will only offer you standby on the early flight out of SEA at 6 am. Miss it and you are SOL. Hotel at your expense. They only intended to hire 1 or 2 that day. Tells me alot that they wasted the time and money of the other folks to come for an interview at all.

That's an awful attitude and completely false.

True story. Like it or not. How would you know it is false???

Well, I believe you are wrong and this is why. Last month they interviewed 2 people and both got the job. Our mgmt has been very vocal about recruiting people to come here and are very concerned about the "pilot shortage." If it happens. I don't believe it when you say that only 1 out of 8 or 9 is hired. With the mins of 1200 TT, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a hard time attracting people. They used to ba able to sell living in the northwest SEA/PDX but now all new hires are going to go to MFR for a while. How long ? Depends if we get more planes.
There are bad apples out there that shouldn't be pilots. And do some good people get shown the door? Of course , but in every industry it happens. I'm not trying to back the decision that was made but rationally, this does not makes sense.

PS- your attitude sucks and I hope you're not at Horizon.
