Maybe you guys are right. I hope your not but if you are I will just cut the cord and try and find something else. As I just lost my most current job, will most likely give QX a shot. If it sucks then on to something else.

HAL39 09-26-2010 02:42 PM

I'm sure morale at QX is at an all-time low...and yea, its a bummer to see mgmt pass up a grip of opportunities, like the lynx Q400's in DEN or Hawaiian's new CBA that allows for turboprop flying interisland. That definitely chaps my a**, but that comes with the business

This goes out to all the guys at QX reading this thread who hate their jobs...enough with the sob stories. If it's so terrible then put on your big girl boots and walk away. I've been sitting on the sidelines for the last 2 years waiting for a call only to see guys like you crap all over the job. Don't even try to play the "you havent experienced what I have" card, it's a worthless argument to someone who's had NO income for the last 22 months. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I've just had enough of this hypocrisy. Rather than flame me for this post, just answer this one simple question:

If you hate it so much, then why haven't you moved on?

Every pilot at QX has the ability to pack up and move on if they so wish. If you are staying there because you absolutely cannot leave the PNW, then you've made your bed and you should be grateful you don't have to commute. You don't need to answer this question for me...answer it for yourself. Whatever the situation / morale / pay / benefits are when I get back to QX, I'm going to be thankful that I finally have my job back...even if it only lasts 6 months :)

Everyone has their story, and it all depends on their position in life. To say "every pilot at QX has the ability to pack up and move on if they so wish" is a pretty bold statement and I only wish it were true. I have been here for almost 10yrs and have been furloughed, downgraded etc. My position is I have a house, kids, one is getting close to going to college. I am pretty well penned in at QX. I can tell you with out a doubt, that I can't just pack up and move on for just any job with out serious financial consequences, BK, foreclosure etc. I am not going to put my family through that. QX is it because it is the only job I have right now and it is the only one I can get. I have applied for at least 5 other jobs, sorry, no takers. Like I have stated before and I am sure you know, there are a ton of pilots for very few pilot jobs. Being a pilot is what I have put all of my time and energy into, as I am sure you have too. I have no other marketable skill at this time or in this job environment. So, no I can't move on just yet, I need to get some PIC like everyone else. Until then I will welcome you back so you can listen to me B!tch.

HAL39,

I make about 90K a year. I don't have to commute. I don't have to bid reserve and I haven't been downgraded. I don't have much to complain about and I don't. I also can't just pick up and move to a job that pays 36K a year and have to commute to reserve. Many people at QX are stuck there for the same reason that you have been on the street for 22 months. I have been here for 12 years and have yet to have the opportunity to make a safe move.

If you want to come back to QX to get current and move on, Great. Sounds like a good idea. But, I don't think that our mgmt is telling the furloughes that there are very likely to be more furloughs next year and I don't think that its fair.

As I said before. Our new CEO has completely destroyed the culture that we all once loved at QX. That is not a complaint. It is a fact and I think it is sad.

Good luck in training. See you on the line...

If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say "love it or leave it" in one context or another...I'd have more than one nickel.

FL410 09-27-2010 09:53 AM

I see your point. Let's hope the fleet plan changes.

Do you know the way to San Jose?

Thanks for finding that Q. CRQ -SJC would be great for everyone.

Talked to an ACP the other day:

initially 23 recall notices were send out, hoping to place 10 takers in a class...
followed by 5 additional letters....
followed by 10 additional letters....
followed by 30 additional letter....
now the CPO hopes for 20 takers for one large class.... only 14 furloughs have not been contacted (or 15, if you count one guy who quit because his new employer mandated it...just to furlough him a little later).

Welcome back to the new and improved QX to everyone who takes the recall. Oh...you better get used to the complaining, because as of a D.W. blue-page (dated about 2 years ago) it is now mandatory for all crews to have a negative attitude and whine at least 3 times during any given segment. Non-compliance is not only unprofessional (which is frowned upon by the CPO) but will also result in an FAA violation.

Then there's the good old 'Love the one you're with'.

No one wants to be polishing the brass on the titanic though.

Things have been quiet from QX and AAG in the past few weeks. Are you guys hearing anything? GJ's friday updates seem to have dried up.
