Wow; didn't think they would have a class so soon after the hiring window. Guess things move quick at Horizon... except upgrades.
Any rumors of a class later on down the road this year?

You mean next year? 2013? Yeah, there are rumors. I'd imagine there wouldn't be less hiring than in 2012, as likely we'll see more people leave if they can.

55 people applied, only 30-35 people qualified. January 2013 class of 4-6.
Anchorage is happening, summer of 2013 with shuttle service between Anchorage and Fairbanks. 0.1 RNP is happening and yes, those were proving flights. Alaska knows they have to lower costs in the State of Alaska with Southwest/jetBlue entering the market.
What's your source? If its from the Puzzle Palace I would not consider it to be very reliable...
Look for Horizon to order more Q4's if the contract extension passes on the 12th of December.

That was the implication from the chit chat in CQ ground during the 'provided' lunch.
Also, having flown with an ExCo member recently, his person feelings as well.
Not saying its a make or break for the company in the least, more like the company wants fixed cost for the future.

I'm aware. Just stating the fact that roughly 50 pilots have left since one year ago.
I agree with this as well. If we go to arbitration, the company will probably just ask to keep the rates the same, and we'd lose out on the couple of good things the LOA has. I'm not a huge fan of long-term contracts, but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I agree. I didn't say that my bidding seniority improved by 50, but that 50 people that were on the list are no longer on the list, having left. I'm aware that many of these people were not actively bidding crewmembers.

And I still owe you and Luke a few from last round.

Some points on Horizon
Remember that it would take a very large order to bring down the upgrade time to a reasonable amount, and Horizon is not known for explosive growth.
I do not see a large amount of attrition either. Most captains feel very little impetuous to leave.
In a somewhat likely scenaro of an 6-8 aircraft order (which I doubt), combined with the Alaska 30% hiring program, there should be some movement, although lethargic compared to most if not all regionals.
Keep in mind the Alaska FO Hiring program is no guarentee. It has not been used to any great extent thus far only sporatic hiring.
The Starbucks coffee is nice.
