I commuted from SEA to GEG for a year, and it sucked. Yes, there are tons of flights, but the schedules aren't commutable on both ends. At best you'll be spending a night before or after your trip. From Seattle, the easiest bases to commute to are probably PDX and GEG. Then BOI, then maybe ANC, and lastly MFR.

MFR is a tough commute. My friend stays with me here when he's got a trip. He flys down from pdx the night before and leaves the day after his pairing. Totally uncommutable on both ends. He's number 5 in mfr for FOs.

ANC wasn't a bad commute for me when I was doing it. MFR sounds terrible and I'd probably stick with my commute and company now compared to that.
Anyone know what a January Interview would be for a class date?
Thanks for the honest answers!

As for how long training takes, ground school runs about three weeks, with the oral being a couple of days later. The sim took me 18 days to get through, but that included one extra session to get everything squared away before the final MV session.
IOE took me 32 days from the first flight to being released to fly the line, but that timeline can vary. I think IOE is scheduled to take about 30 hours to complete, but it ended up being about 40 in my case, which is apparently about the realistic average for new-hires with no turbine time.
