The company is demanding concessions from the pilot group. It is the unions job to negotiate with the company. The letter was simply informing the pilot group of the situation. You are the one out of touch with how things work.

So...maybe, possibly, if the price is right (work for free?), we could potentially get 30 shiny new jets within just five short years?
When do the "at lest 20" Q400's get parked?
I don't see how this deal could in any way be a bad deal for the QX pilot group.
No thanks.

I wouldn't recommend ANYONE coming here right now. How many BILLIONS of dollars does Alaska have to make before enough is enough? Just give the jets to skywest, F' em...

If you are a new here you can look forward to getting furloughed at the end of next year when we lose 30% of our fleet after we all VOTE NO.

Erosion of the middle class. Everybody needs to ask themselves, when is it going to be enough? We have power in numbers. We run the show. Don't give them a single penny. These greedy aholes need to learn.

Just for reference, here are some numbers.

Alaska Air Group first quarter profit:

2012: 24 million
2013: 44 million
2014: 94 million
2015: 149 million

I'm not sure where the problems with cost show up.

Easy, no need to get defensive; like I said, my perspective was from the outside. The OP suggested the union was entertaining the idea of concessions. If the intent of the letter was to inform the pilots, then carry on, nothing to see; same old management tactics, different airline.

Sorry you were the second person in twenty minutes to blame our union. You are forgiven;)

Just for curiosity sake. why would it take 5 years to get 30 jets? what they plan on delivering 6 jets a year?
Also I don't see how an airline which operate 50-something q400s is not already more economical than SKW, which operates many different airframes. *shrugs*

I'll echo the plead above not to come here. There are far better places to go other than QX if you want to live in the Pacific Northwest.

Alaska has always been very slow at growth... There smart and take there time... QX is crazy to take a cut.. Pluss they need every other employees to take cuts also.. For 5-30?? (Who knows) jets that will go 25+years senority.... Ummm. No...
