It's been 13 minutes and not a peep out of anyone on here. Figured I'd get the ball rolling. Somebody want to fill me in on what all those numbers mean?

Haha!

Hahaha!

They state that a 14% reduction in pilot cost is necessary to be competitive in order to place a bid for a fleet plan that would be a total of 62 potential airplanes in a 5 year time frame.

We have 52 airplanes currently. With currrent orders, we'll have 54 airplanes by the end of 2017. So a 14% reduction in cost in order to have absolutely no guarantee of a net increase of 8 airframes?

Man! What a sweet deal! We should jump on this thing immediately!

They want you to take concessions for "potential" aircraft, so they can be competitive? So Horizon isnt competitive with 52 airplanes, and they want 62? As a former Teamster member: they should stick to truckers.

Apparently company-wide, we need to cut costs by 28% in order to match SkyWest.

Alaska has stated that their plan for the Q400 fleet is a reduction of 20 airframes. I hadn't read that bit until after my previous post.

Essentially, on a 350 nm route, our analysis finds that the Q400 has about a 65-72% advantage in terms of fuel burn per seat versus the E170/CRJ-700, and a 100-110% advantage versus a 50-seat regional jet. This, along with rising RJ maintenance costs, translates into roughly a 15-17% and 48-52% advantage in terms of operating cost per seat on the route.

So why do they need money from you guys?????? Really???

So the increase of 10 airframes (52 to 62) will come at a cost of 20 Q's? So does that mean that you guys are getting 30 jets? I have seen a few of those SKW 200's in COS...is that where they will go?

Just looking from the outside in, but I think your union leadership is out of touch with reality. Concessions in this environment is not crazy, it's ludicrous! May I suggest actions similar to Delta Air Lines pilot group; it is named after the movie "Total Recall."

Maintenance on the Q400 is way out of control. The thing is costing so much that I doubt you could get anyone to tell you a number. For reference, it's not uncommon for the fleet to have 7-10 aircraft out of service at any given time. Record profits every year I've worked here, though. Don't try to use logic, it won't get you anywhere.

That's the theory. Keep in mind... we're not "getting" 30 jets. There's a possibility of a potential of theoretically maybe getting 30 jets if we absolutely guarantee to immediately and permanently slash our costs.

So far, the deal right now looks quite similar to a random email from a Saudi Prince who needs you to help him import a metric ton of cash money.
