Reference email from system CP https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/2...-post2953.html

1) The usual FAR minimums under 121.436 (1,000 hours SIC)
2) 750 hours with Horizon, but that is being waived on a case by case basis.

Yeah, I got those, but I'm also really taking seriously your comments about the challenge, esp with a newb in BOTH seats. And trying not to get overly ridiculous: day ONE of training is still in front of me. Fly the airplane first, you know. Just get this next thing done and then the thing after that, etc. Just my way of saying I don't think I'm Chuck Yeager or Sparky Imeson or Scott Crosfield (& look at how those last 2 no longer breathe). I'm also sayin' I'm broke and got a family to feed. So, we'll figure it out, but first things first.

Well you have to do FO ioe first anyway, so do that and re-evaluate.

It's a little different now. You get the iPad the first day of systems. My class had to do the online stuff on their own equipment during the week between ATP/CTP. One week of systems, one week of FTD's in PDX, then Sims in Seattle. I started end of November, and still haven't been in an aircraft yet. Finished Sims a month ago.

What are you doing in the mean time waiting at home for a call on your IOE date?

PDX seniority

How senior is PDX on the captain side and how long does it take to hold a line there?

New captains are getting it right away, even the new hire captain got it. At least 3-4 years to hold a line.

Thanks. Do you think this time might get shorter with the jet fleet expansion and potentially PDX becoming the next jet base? I know I’m assuming a lot here, but still ...

Snacky has been around a lot longer than I have. So he may have better input, but I believe if PDX opens up you will see a good amount of senior guys move to the jet. The Q would be the junior aircraft and reserve times should go down in the left seat. However, as QX pulls Q’s off the line no one knows what bases will be affected as far as number of lines. Potentially the Q400 fleet shrinking may offset the movement to the jet. That is just a stab in the dark as they say...
