Phone interviews

Before anyone jumps on me saying "use the search function," I did search but didn't seem to find much info or specifics on the latest* phone interview format.

I got an email for a phone interview with jetBlue and just trying to gather more info on what I can expect to be asked, etc.

My understanding is you review logbook stuff and questions from the application itself. Also "why jetblue?" seems to be something they're asking as well.

Anything else I might be missing? Thanks guys.

1. Why JetBlue?
2. What are the 5 core values?
3. What didn't you like about your previous employer?
4. Have your hours in line.
5. Be a good dude that they want to spend 4 days with.

Good luck.

*im in Phase 2. Not hired yet. Phone interview in Jan. It was conversational and fun. Don't be a douche.

A buddy had his today. I debriefed him after and it was exactly as described. He was required to do the addendum and it was requested for same-day turnaround so be prepared to complete that if you have any failures, accidents, or violations..

To anyone else with a phone interview, here's what I got asked in mine:

Flight hours: TT, turbine PIC time, EFIS time, jet time, instructor hours and check airman hours (if any), hours in the last 12 months.

Training failures

Traffic violations

Why JetBlue?

What are the 5 JetBlue core values?

What do you like the most about your current job and what do you dislike about it?

What has been the most challenging part of your career so far?

Anything else we should know about?

The person I talked to was super nice. Total call time was right under 20 minutes. Got the addendum e-mail 5 minutes later.

KingAirpilot90 04-07-2017 11:06 AM

Did anyone else that had a phone interview today get the welcome to phase one email but still not get the email with the link to schedule the F2F? They said the next interview slots will be at the end of May so maybe they will it later?

SideFlare 04-07-2017 11:20 AM

It takes a number of days for some to get the F2F email. If they told you you've made it through the phone screen you'll get it with plenty of time to spare.

KingAirpilot90 04-07-2017 11:24 AM

Awesome thanks!

How long after you returned the addendum did you get an invite for an interview?

I phoned on Wed and returned the addendum same day.

Oh, I haven't gotten that far yet. I got the addendum e-mail from them 5 minutes after the phone convo. I sent in my addendum 20 minutes later after the phone call and got an e-mail saying they received it an hour and half after sending it.

Other than that, the person I spoke to on the phone said they're usually sending invites a week or two after the phone interview. The person volunteered the info. I didn't ask.

captsurf 04-07-2017 02:41 PM

I got the "you've been selected to continue" the day after I submitted the addendum. Then the actual email to schedule the interview came the day after that. So 2 days after the phone screen to schedule the interview. This was mid February. Face to face was 3/30.

Yes sir I actually got it literally a minute after the phone call but haven't received the one to schedule the interview. I didn't have to fill out an addendum

Yeah, I think for those of us who have addendums (stage check failure in my case), the addendum gets reviewed by another pilot according to the person I spoke to so I'm guessing that's why it takes longer since you have to wait for someone else to review it.

I'm in the same boat. Did the phone screen today and got the "You will get an email to schedule and interview" email but haven't seen that one yet. I'm guessing Monday or Tuesday. I sent in the updated copy of my resume as well today.

For those that have done the call recently, what area code did it come from?

Did they leave a voicemail for those who may have been working when they were called?

"Unknown" or "No Caller ID" is what I had.

They give you the exact time, so answer the call that comes at that time. Good luck!

It was a "No Caller ID" for me. Probably best if you answer it and don't let it go to voicemail since you did set up that time to be available.

I still haven't heard back from them. Hopefully soon.

Spud63 04-10-2017 04:05 PM

Yea I didn't realize they email to set up a time beforehand! Great! I can start staring at my email inbox instead of my phone.

Yeah I applied back in January and finally heard back from them last month by email to set up a time.

SideFlare 04-10-2017 08:30 PM

To the folks with the addendum, it may take up to a week or more. They'll call you, assuming you did something relatively low key. If you busted through P56 in a gyrocopter you may be doomed.

PIN,
Did you apply in the January window also? I'm curious if calls are still going out from January or if they're already calling April applicants.

JetBlue will not call from the new hiring window until the application window closes. Until that point, they will call from the Jan window. They specifically told me this at NGPA

Just a heads-up to anyone following the timeline of events and whatnot...
I got the invitation email today to continue on to Phase 1 and interview with JetBlue. (10 days from sending the addendum)

Took two weeks between phone and getting a go!

Really quick question for you guys, what is your total and pic time?
How many internal recommendation letters do you currently have?

Thanks

Did you upload the other two LOR's at the end? If I recall it would only let you upload three referral letters.

You're definitely competitive. Window closes at the end of the month, so you have a good chance I'd say if getting picked. Open house in MCO in June I heard too.

It let me upload 10 LORs if my memory serves me. Do you mean in the last window?

Don't feel bad. Mine took a month and a half. It isn't always quick.
