No excuses the first time......lol!

Bids were already in the first time when it was announced. Couldn't get it off. That was my excuse. This time I can bid around it and don't have an excuse (except maybe my juniority not being able to hold it if it's a popular day to bid off).

Well, we can ALL try and bid for it off. But I'd wager we "need" 57 reserves that day.

Great so 57 reserves sitting in bos with nothing better to do.

The company is gonna pay you to be there!

I just love the irony. let's talk about a rally to bring unity by picking on pilots in Boston. Whatever, standard pilots.

There is no unity here! That's why we won't get a contract anytime soon. Sad.

What does it matter which base the rally is held? Everyone from every base should be attending!

We won't get a contract because guys like you keep throwing our own pilots under the bus. I'm sorry but for a very young union I think we are doing a pretty good job.

Some of our guys are so self-defeating it's like HR hired a bunch of Eeyores.(maybe they did)
I know I know this guy wore a pats lanyard or this guy helped clean, but for everyone ONE of those there are 10 doing what the union asked. Heck this summer the company even admitted not as many guys were picking up RSAs. Now are we going to have the guys that don't follow the union, yes but so does every airline out there. While some guys may not be as militant as some would like the engagement numbers and support numbers are high and that's what we need. Sorry I know it's a rant but I just think we should be very proud of what our union has been able to do in such a short time.

At the BBQ in Boston today I did see 6 straight guys walk through the line wearing their jetblue lanyards... only two of us out there at the time had them on. But probably 65% of the cpts I fly with wear the lanyard.

I would say the same....65%-70% of the CA's I fly with wear the ALPA lanyard. Pretty good I suppose. What blows my mind is seeing FO's not wearing the lanyard, while their FO counterparts at the Legacies make upwards of $180/hour on the Airbus. I guess some JB Captains might not be fully invested in Alpa's mission for a contract since they already make pretty good money and don't wanna shake things up...that's my only guess.

What confuses me is the guys who wear a company lanyard, but wear their 10,15, or 20 year ALPA pin.....SMH. At this point if they aren't on the non-member list, I don't even waste my time.

Is that a pledge pin on your uniform?

I've talked with Members who are very anti-ALPA and anti-market rate CBA. It's depressing. I get if you have a beef with ALPA, but now is not the time to litigate that.

I assume you haven't flown with one of the "we can't get too expensive" types around here. It's truly mind boggling, but it exists in greater numbers than you'd think. Stockholm Syndrome maybe.

The way I see it anyone who isn't going along with MEC requests to wear their lanyard and make an effort to show up to the rallies is against a market rate CBA.

Just flew with one. Bragged about how much credit he's made this summer and how we can't afford to pay the same as legacies. I about blew my lid. I did my best to educate him but I doubt it made a difference. He's got his and screw everyone else.

And just guessing super senior in base and can't get hired on anywhere else.

Frontier just had a 99% voter turnout with 100% strike authorization!

The real problem I see with us is the constant bs attitude demonstrated above. "We'd never get that vote" "Boston guys won't show up" "The juicers" etc etc etc. If you want it to change, grow up and stop bashing the guys you fly with. Every damn ALPA email ends with "Build Unity". It takes a real lack of comprehension to promote disunity while saying people should support our MEC.

Respectfully I think you don't see it because you don't want to. I understand that protective type attitude because you don't want to be disappointed. The numbers from the vote the rally and the dues paying members show we have a "unified" union.

Keep picking up those trips fellas. Make that $$$ to compensate for our sh*tty rates

Staffing blows at every level. Call services right now and volunteer to fly off vacation. You can't even call in so don't bother no one will answer.

So what? If he's able to trade it out then good for him. If not, then he has the option to call out. Nothing wrong with trying different options.

Spoke with a reserve last week who was bragging that he credits 100 hours per month because he VDA's on his days off.

I'm sorry, as a semi noob what's the problem with VDA? I've put in for it, but have never been called for one.

RSA's, nope. No thanks. That's just poor staffing if everyday they need RSAs. But VDA? I've actually asked a lot of guys about this because I wanted to see what's deemed acceptable. Every guy I've flown with from a variety of bases has said VDAs are fine. 190% and it's not mandatory, so if you don't want to fly, don't fly. If it's late night after a day of weather and crews have timed out and all reserves are spent, why would taking a VDA be a negative thing?

Also the guys who keep spewing negative things about their own guys is ridiculous. I lurk but rarely post, but it's really bothersome to see so many guys lash out at their fellow pilots for no reason. "There's no unity here", "It won't happen". Wow, I mean ALPA was voted in was it not? 9 out of 10 guys I see are wearing lanyards and want market rate. I know I'll be at the rally supporting the group. I wonder how many naysayers will actually be there.
