Airbus BOS F.O Reserve
Hey Guys,
Looking to get some info on the Airbus F.O reserve life. I plan on living in base. Types of trips, quality of life, any insight would be greatly appreciated. Talked to some guys here about the 190 and have a good idea of how the 190 life will be. Just wondering what the bus life looks like, thanks everyone.

When is your class date?
It’s really about timing and how senior you are in class. If you will have a choice or not. If you are at the bottom of the bus or on the front wave of a 190 hiring spree.
When you get to class ask how many more of each seat are going to be filled by new hires before the next system bid.
If they are going to fill 30-40 190 spots and only 10 Airbus I would highly recommend the 190 for the first two years. In all likelihood in this scenario you would out earn and out QOL your Airbus classmates until your AC lock expires.
If they are done filling most of the 190 vacancies pick the Airbus.
I can’t really speak to 320 reserve usage in BOS but as a junior reserve expect to become proficient at landing in Puerto Rico and the Dominican in the middle of the night.
The 190 gets put to bed by midnight. Something to be said for that.

BOS bus reserve is 10 months and you will get called almost everyday during our busy months...The way to get off reserve is to essentially bid for redeyes and during swap/drop period, do your best to swap out of them..otherwise build seniority on reserve and hold weekends off.
(My experience) on reserve, I rarely got a 2 hour callout. Many trips assigned will be the 10 hour 3 day STI,SDQ type of redeye flying. You can aggressively pickup in the beginning of the month while on reserve to try to increase your credit and will therefore get called less towards the end of the month (Call out procedures from CS is lowest credit first, not seniority based).

And do all you can to get on the bus if you want FLL. If you come onboard on the 190 the 2 year equipment lock will control how soon you can get FLL. It’s right around a year right now for last man reserve there..

I think we will have an E190 FLL base in the next 2 years, but that's just my opinion.
