I think what most of us in the middle want to see is people in the GOP standing up and calling out the bad actors in their party and bringing it back to center.

As an example, I freaking hate the woke crap, doxing, etc., that goes on with the left side. If Joe Blow business owner down the street is a racist jerk, who gives a crap? Let him live. As long as he isn't hurting anyone, he is allowed to be an a hole. That's just life in a free country. We don't have to all like each other, and we don't have to all be kind. Is it nice to be a kind person? Sure, it's how I choose to live, but my way isn't the only way. And that's what I find annoying about some of those on the left. They feel like everyone has to live their way, or else. Come to think of it, so to those on the far right too. So they share that one. lol

Our nation does not survive if we cannot find a way to keep the politics in the center, and shut down the extreme sides. Social media and the internet have completely destroyed our ability to do that. The only people who have voices are the extremes.

Uh did you watch the never trump movement or the Lincoln project or Romney or Kinzinger or or or. There are tons on the Republican side that call out the other republicans. It’s never ending.

Which GOP faction is fascist honest question.

And what happens to that small minority who dare to speak out against Orange Julius Caesar? They get flattened and burned at the stake.

The faction that calls Mitt Romney a "RINO" or openly attempts/succeeds in ruining Kinzinger or Cheney's careers for simply holding people accountable. There was a time when good men on both sides would put aside the party, and stand unified for Country. That's what we need today. It is what Cheney and Kinzinger are doing. I'm a doggone registered Republican, and I freaking hate the current direction of the party.

I'm not saying that those people are "fascists." That's a strong word. However, I do believe that there are those in the party who are actual fascists, just like there are those in the Left who are actual communists. Still the far right checks many of the boxes on the "what it takes to be a fascist" checklist, and we should keep an eye on that. After all, the Germans didn't just wake up in a fascist regime one day. It's a process, one step at a time. I'd say those who deny that there was a coup attempt on January 6th, or who deny that the 2020 election was a fair election are teetering dangerously on that edge. Those are simply facts that any rational person should understand. The far right believing in the "big lie" is really terrifying.

Next up: a religion debate! Let's get it all out of the way here instead of on the flight deck. 🤣

Very, very low information voter. The days of republicans clamoring for lower taxes while ceding our culture and safety is over.

Was it scary for you when democrats claimed george bush stole the 2000 election or Hilary Clinton in 2016 or Stacy abrams in 2018? It’s only scary when republicans question the outcome. Too much joe scarbourgh bruh.

I will say though, this has been very civil when compared to the political fights on BP. Again, APC is a nice in-between forum where you can have a wide range of discussion without overbearing moderation.

(See how I tried to circle the wagons back to the original topic? :D)

Perhaps you missed the part where I said I was a registered Republican. I voted for W.

That is irrelevant. When you can look at the landscape and come to the conclusions you’ve come to, you don’t have the entire story. You are free to have your opinion but it’s uninformed.

I feel the same way about your opinion. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Annnnndddd there we have it. Saw this coming from a mile away. Lol smh

See how this goes both ways everyone (left and right)? I think class should be dismissed at this point. Hope we all learn something.

Morale of the story: Middle is where we should be, but no one wants to hear that BS :D

I'm center-right. As soon as the GOP decides to start putting the national interests ahead of the party interests I'll start voting for them again. Small government, less spending, more freedom. That's not what the current crowd wants. They spend more, tax less, and tell everybody what to think and do. It's not the GOP I grew up with.

I could tell you were.

The word "reasonable" comes to mind based on what you type.

Republicans have been reasonable and complicit in the managed decline of America because they cave and fracture. Democrats don’t do that. The left bench presses republicans.

That's weird because I think the same with the Dems side about caving, like seriously. I'm not joking. And as you see, I'm neither of the 2. Check and balance is the way to go. The country needs both sides, just not the extremes of both sides.
I agree with Propilotblue that each party needs to call BS to their own party member when it's BS. That's it.

If that were the case Ilan Omar and Rashida Talib would have gone the way of Kanye west, but they find raised off of anti semitism. They walk in lockstep while republicans throw each other under the bus. But yes, the middle is the place to be. That’s why we have a 2 party system. Both sides need to get back.

Yeah maybe they get voted out. Did you see the letter the democrat progressive caucus sent out about trump Ukrainian and immediately took back. Let’s not act like both sides don’t do this.

Ok I’ll ask you again who exactly is the fascist in the GOP?

You are right it’s a very strong world and one that suddenly is everywhere. Nobody is even close to being one it’s just a lazy argument.

However I do like history and how everyone is like Germany Germany meanwhile the guy who coined the term and started the first party to go that way is like hey what about me.

Fasci Italiani di Combattimento

To get back to this it’s the middle of the country that needs to grow a spine and tell both extremes to F off and stop the BS.

As for Adam and Liz. Nobody ruined them they did what they did. You think it’s right the voters don’t and the democrats liked Adam so much they redrew the map and put him in a left leaning district.

You and I disagree I’m very happy to see the old Republican Party die. Y’all can have W and Cheney. Those two got us into two pointless wars that cost the lives of our servicemen civilians and tons of money for absolutely nothing.

That's the OPPOSITE. The R moderates get flattened and burned at the stake, the D Progressive caucus, what I assume is the more extreme group, got reigned in.

But no, I had not seen that. Haven't been in the news much lately.
