That is the impression I am getting.
Because that's the policy.

The only reason they aren't enforcing it is the open revolt it would likely cause from the pilot group.
If you're smarter than the average bear, you'd understand ALPA's position (and FAR 117) that any work for the company starts your duty day, and that by NOT doing so, you are following CS guidance on when your duty day starts. It's actually pretty simple. I've seen exactly ONE captain who groomed the cabin. Actually JS back home with him after he cleaned his own inbound flight. Total tool, and not because of the cleaning.

There's only one thing those blue gloves are good for, so I never turn them down when they are offered to me.

Make sure you stock up on your cell data plan if you don't already have unlimited data. Cant be too careful with the tube sites you plan to visit on your many lonely nights away from home on the company wifi.

Do you have a fridge & microwave in the room?
How about coffee? Is it provided all day or would it be better to bring your own Chemex

Microwave and fridge in common area on each floor.

If you like mediocre at best coffee, they have it all over the lodge and JBU in single serve machines. There is Starbucks coffee for sale at the bar, which is usually better but cuts into your use/lose lodge bucks. I don’t remember the hours for that coffee. If you’re a coffee snob and want to bring a Chemex, I would.

Also, maybe I’m a water snob, but I found the water to be so gross it was undrinkable. I’d recommend getting lots of water bottles, especially if you’re trying to make good coffee with it.

I have always brought an 18 cup Brita filter, so much better than buying bottles

I jumpseated last week. Cleaned my row and folded the seatbelts. But no....I don’t wait for everyone to get off. Won’t push anyone down, but as soon as there’s an opening I’m out.
