A220
I’m looking at coming to JetBlue and am wondering if there is any information on where the A220’s will be based? I would eventually like to be based in Orlando, but not sure how getting the 190 now and then changing aircraft to A220 would affect that. Do you think that the new aircraft arrival would mean a longer or shorter time in JFK or BOS for a new hire?

We won't get our first 220 until late 2020, entry into service 2021. It will likely be 2-3 more years til we get a significant number of them, so I wouldn't worry about it at this point. They will be based in BOS initially, my speculation is JFK is likely next, then FLL and MCO. The E190 will be around a lot longer than everyone thinks. We haven't even solidified a retirement schedule for them yet.

Anyone else hearing rumors of the company moving the MCO190 base down to FLL on the August year long bid?

Wow, 2017 rumors being recycled again? :p;)
First time I heard it, it slipped off my Back. The next 3 times I heard it[emoji2369][emoji2369][emoji2369]. Hopefully just a bad rumor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I don’t believe that MCO rumor since MCO will be grown in a few years. Paying for and dealing with a displacement just to reopen it a bit later...I don’t see it.

If JB wants to solidify (or protect) its position in the Orlando market as Spirit and SWA continue to expand, it will need to lower CASMs on competitive markets (ie NE-FL) through more seats/capacity and open up new, nonstop markets that bypass traditional hubs - and you can do that effectively with a fuel efficient and flexible airplane like the A220. The E190 is too inflexible and limiting from a revenue-upside perspective. Side note: I met a Delta pilot who is training on the A220 recently and he said it was the easiest airplane he has ever flown and he will likely not bid off it for a very long time. That was his perspective (opinions will vary). :) |
190 will be on the property for 10 more years. Hear me now, believe me later.

They just mentioned at the party that the 220 is going to BOS. It will have 140 seats.
