Guys I have a general question. Do they give you any option on how to verify employment if I worked as a self employed flight instructor and contract pilot? I didn’t receive W2s for these jobs

Yes, you can either write a letter or provide 1099s.

Thank you! Is that something those flight schools have to elaborate and sign? Or can I do those letters myself?. I am just trying to be proactive once they ask for them.

I can’t remember exactly what it says, but the phase 2 packet instructions were pretty clear on what options you had to verify, and how to get it done.

These are the exact instructions of the two options:

The letter must include the business name and position of applicant dates for the period(s) in question and must include the months and years in the letter (i.e., September 2012 through May 2015).

Copies of 1099 form for each year you were self-employed

Have you heard anything back? Been 7 days for me just seeing how long it was for you.

Anyone else having a hard time getting through to GIS? Tried getting through twice on the phone but gave up after 45 mins of waiting both times. Left a voice message, still nothing. Trying to get an update on the status of my background check. It’s been over a month at this point, just want to make sure there is nothing else I could be doing. Anyone else running in to the same problems?

A month is typical. No need to raise an alarm. Join the wait party. There are guys waiting for 3-5 months. 3 months myself. Not much you can do. Call hire-right and tell them to transfer you to the GIS department. It’s a different department at the moment.

There is really nothing GIS can tell you except that your BG check is still processing. I have been in phase 2 for 9 weeks now. Patience is the Key here...
