various new hire questions
1. Still waiting for phase 2 checks to come through with an Ok. Is it still holding at around 8 weeks or so for this to come back ?
2.. Was told from a mid october interview the class date would be around april/may? does this still sound correct and what are the current class sizes and hiring projection for next year?
3. Once a lineholder how hard is it to get say 3 weeks off in a row assuming a JFK or BOS base?
Thanks

He could bid the last 7-10 days off of one month and the first 7-10 days off of the next month. Only works every 2 months though and probably couldn't hold 3 weeks off regularly as "min sched" is usually denied because culture.

2. In my interview (mid July) I was told Oct/Nov would likely be my class. Still waiting. Was told a few weeks ago probably January.
3. Can't answer that yet.
Good luck. Don't count any other individuals timeline as what will happen with you or you may be disappointed.

Only answering number 3, but it will take you awhile to have that sort of control over your schedule. Would you like it off randomly or regularly? At +1.5 years I can usually get 8-10 days off in a row, either line holder or reserve, if I work the swap system. If that crosses into another month, maybe I can get another couple days. I was just looking at past bid awards for December and only the most senior bidders, without vacation, could have very long (2 weeks+) blocks without working. There are way too many variables. The biggest challenge is holding weekends off. Once you can do that, you can work some schedule Kung fu.

A bit over a year in I was able to turn my vacation into almost 3 full weeks off. Bid off the final week of the month off, vacation first week of the next month, and then I bid off and dropped trips the week after vacation.
