JetBlue’s risk of deferring Aircraft?
I saw this article posted on AA’s page and saw it listed JB pretty high in being at risk for not taking the aircraft we’ve committed to take. I just wanted see what others thought of it, especially considering JB has a pretty solid history of kicking the can down the road with aircraft orders.

With all the late model used aircraft on sale from leasing companies who have repossessed them from airlines that have folded, anybody who CAN economically defer (or even cancel) orders placed over a year ago OUGHT to be trying to do it. Why pay full price when you can get it for half price and a paint job?

This uses the Altman Z-score, which isn't a perfect metric by any means. You can see JBLU was in the red zone for years until 2015 but never went BK
Altman Z-Score Analysis of JetBlue Airways Corporation (JBLU)
Will JBLU defer aircraft? That's almost guaranteed, but the chart in the article is based on the likelihood of going bankrupt in the next 5 years based on the Z-score, which I don't think is reliable.

Honestly, I can see the argument of playing hard-ball with lessors vs. manufacturers.

Air Canada is cancelling A220 orders and deferring 18 A220’s in 21/22’. Jetblue should just let it rip and start taking additional A220’s and parking 190’s. Costs aside, I bet they could be more creative in route structure in this environment w/ A220’s.
