Exactly. That was my point before. Not moving to a career destination due to a potential recession is silly. Get to where you want to be ASAP. Then let the chips fall where they may.

If you say so, but like HE SAID, it’s not his destination, it’s a stepping stone. He doesn’t have the resume to be competitive when the music stops.

This could end up being a tougher recession, or a more standard one. We just don't know. But this is a historically good time for pilot demand so moving companies is less likely to be catastrophic than it was in previous recessions where pilots were a dime a two-dozen.
But in the end, you just don't really know, it is a risk... |
Upgrade time by base? Anyone ?

Right now its like 3-4 years in JFK, 5-7 in BOS and FLL, and infinity in MCO. If we merge with Spirit it will slow upgrades to a halt, so those times are very optimistic for new hires.

For 190 it’s approximately 3 years for 190 upgrade in BOS & JFK. Even with 190 retirements I don’t think it’ll deviate far from that number but it’s hard to tell because their plans for them always change. 190 BOS I’m more confident saying it will remain in the 3-4 range but it depends how many head over to the A320/A220. It’s 5-7 years currently for BOS A320 like Mainline Flyer said. 5-7 years on the 190 in BOS puts you roughly in the middle of the CA seniority list. |

The airplane is going to be gone in three years. Sooo, I’m pretty sure it will deviate from three years, because, you know, in three years there won’t be anymore of them.
The upgrade time in BOS during the 2018 post-CBA mass exodus got shaved off several years. That was without any growth. My crystal ball says it’ll be a similar trend for the next couple years until a significant number of 190’s are gone. Unless they halt A220 orders or fix the 190 pay, that 80%-100% seniority range will be a revolving door. Yes, once there are zero 190s there will be zero 190 pilots :D |
