We have 8 220's on property flying now. 2022 the original order was for another 8 airframes, but on the last financial update they had increased the number to either 9 or 10 for next year. So should have 17-18 but end of 2022.
ahh okay, thanks for clarifying. Seems like a good airframe to bid for with that growth coming |

If you’re starting soon, I think I would try and bid the A220 since about half of the 220FO seniority list through the end of 2022 will be pilots not here yet. I think I read about 6 just started today and got assigned the A220, so they’re in a pretty good spot IMO.
A220/A320 upgrade time is about 6 years now….not sure where 9 came from. I think when the Covid dust settles it’ll be around 4-5 years, maybe a hair shorter on the A220. |
Wondering what reserve time on the 320 is in JFK/BOS. Also are there a lot of 4 leg days on the 190? Will be commuting from the west coast initially… TIA!

I think I saw a union comm once a few years ago that said the avg day in the 320 was 1.6 legs and avg day on the 190 was 2.6 legs. I don’t think I flew 4 legs in one day at all last year. There definitely are some, but there are definitely pairings without them, for now anyway. I got a 4 leg day this month in 2 day, but it was by choice. And only one leg on the other day.
Yeah 4 operating legs/day is pretty uncommon for me. I will get occasional 3 legs plus a DH though. Much more common are 2-3 leg days, and occasional 1 leg days. I credited over 90 hours in December and didn’t have a single 4 (operating) leg day, but did get a day with only a DH. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
There is not a single reason to choose Boston 320 as a new hire.

Not even “living in Boston”?
If you don’t mind being on reserve for a couple years. I’d bid 190 and credit a lot more that first year when the pay is the same to go along with better seniority. After that first year you have options. You can go 320/FO and you’re probably a bottom lineholder there in Boston. A220 and you’ll probably hold a decent line since that fleet with see a good amount of movement. Bid 190/CA or even stay 190/FO for the quality of life which is what I did for several years. |

I also think, given a choice of all three airframes, I'd take the 220 over the 190, if just for something "different" (coming from the 170). |

What does reserve utilization look like on the 320? I wouldn't necessarily mind being on reserve awhile, and it's what I expected I'd experience.
