Ha Ha, who wants to keep Detoliet open🤮. I think JB will choose ORD given the proximity of these 2 bases. Also we just opened a M/X base in IAH, so I think they will close that too.
Maybe with LAS, B6 will finally move the 220's west....it would be an awesome A/C to go north and south.....I remember back in 08 they told me they were going to bring the 190's west.🤔

Think some *********s on here just love trying to get people worked up. Looking back at past mergers , buyouts whatever and seems like almost all bases of both companies still around minus TWA. Yet looks to me like some Blue guys just loving trying to predict turmoil and misery for Spirit guys on bases closures. Really hope this doesn’t go through or gets shot down by DOJ.

So does the COO.

Truth. When was the last time you saw anyone in C suite out on the line? They hide in thier offices making decisions by spreadsheet, and what a bunch of "yes men" tell them.

Correction, making decisions by BONUS.

Delta more or less closed MEM and CVG. United more or less closed CLE. With that said, I'm not convinced they close DTW.

Your point earlier about the headaches closing bases is really a good one. For those without blue shirts the company had to close our LGB base and open a LAX base. It seemed like it would be a simple enough bid, but caused massive repercussions through the system and training cycles.

Despite the hot air I spewed earlier, BD is right that it would likely be cheaper to keep all of the bases open and path of least re$i$tance is usually how it goes.

If it happens, think JB keeps most of the Spirit bases.

Maybe only one of DTW/ORD stays.

ATL might be iffy since it would be geographically less important with bigger FLL and MCO bases nearby. Maybe no longer a crew base, but enough flights to ensure connectivity to JFK, BOS, FLL, MCO, ORD, LAX, LAS, DFW, DTW/ORD. Throw in EWR, too.

ACY is the only one that I don’t see fitting in with the network.

I could be wrong, and most likely will be.

Base numbers and geographic spread also plays a huge role in IROPS recovery which is a very non-linear process. All the resources in the world parked under the snowstorm/thunderstorm/hurricane/ATC problem that is causing the outage isn’t going to guarantee a speedy recovery or the continued utilization of other parts of the system.

if management truly does desire to grow B6 into something that can challenge the Big Four, they’ll need most of the bases, and possibly a few more. They’ll also need to up the frequency in many markets for the same reason. If they truly want to make a run at the leaders.

Another good point. JetBlue has been in a continuous IROP since February 11, 2000 and having the vast majority of flights touching the NE and Florida doesn’t help. Some network/resource diversification would be a big help.

Yeah, but we’re getting new software in only 2-3 years. 🙄
