If you are a student of aviation history, then you already know that regionals only have about a 15-year shelf life. You’ve already been there for 7, so at best you have another 6 or 8 years to enjoy that cash cow.
Your regional will tank right about the same time your kids start college, your boat needs a new engine, or your wife finds a lump. In other words, the best time to leave “any regional” for “any major” is Yesterday. |

I’m a 7 year Captain at a regional, making pretty good money, and living 15 minutes away from base. If I jump to Jet Blue, I’ll take a major financial hit the first year, plus give up my 15 minute commute to work. Not sure I’m willing to make all these sacrifices, especially since I have a wife, a kid and a mortgage to pay.
And good luck with that. |

No one actually expects you to stay at Jetblew. |

Both of these numbers are inaccurate. Please let's try and do better when we post about things such as this. Numbers matter!

I know a guy who knows a gal who is good with numbers, and she says it's 487/323 for the year. |

Doesn't matter who lied to you. Still wrong. And I know when you posted it, and the numbers were wrong for the month to which you were referring.

323 quit?
filler retired fired passed away all attrition, but mostly just quits. The rate has significantly picked up again in November. Almost 2 per day for the month. |
