yeah it was!! It sounded so great until it wasn’t..
In this instance the virtual base pairings still originate/terminate in a real base with real reserve staffing to cover trips just like a JFK reserve covers a trip flown by a LAX pilot who calls FTG while on a layover in JFK 😂 |
I wish there was an option for commuters to list that they actually WANT to fly on reserve. I know many that don't get called as they sit in their crashpad and are upset about it, meanwhile I enjoy my time at home not getting those trips.
I liked the way my AA regional did it: A trip pops up and everyone in the bucket can say if they want it or not. Most senior pilot can say if they want the trip or not and it trickles down from there. |

How did regular short call assignments work when nobody bid for it? Most junior legal reserve gets assigned the trip? Or earliest legal reserve like it is here at JB?
Seems backwards to me. |

This sounds a lot like the way our system works for those who choose to pref bid a trip..

Joint company and ALPA pairing survey.
Go do it. The pairings are awful. You would think the 6 month backlog of fatigue call reviews would be enough of a wake up call for the company but apparently they need us to spell it out for them. This is the “profit sharing task force” of scheduling. I did it but it won’t change anything. |

Most jr legal reserve automatically gets it. For whatever reason the most senior # gets you the earliest start time at JB which in a lot of cases makes you the most likely to get called first.
