Reserve Rules Comparison

Hi !
Just curious since there is a talk of negotiation opening soon for a new contract , what is the potential for better reserve rules , I am curious now as to how other airlines manage reserve. Is there an ALPA or another comparison tool / spreadsheet anyone is aware of .
Like a side by side comparison of things like.

1)VDA / RSA rules

2) Ability to pick up on reserve over guarantee

3) Long call assignment rules

4) Short call assignment rules etc etc .

Please share if you have the intel on other airlines or a comparison guide.

Regards !

Definitely need an overhaul of the VDA system. No transparency on who is called for what pairing. It’s always the same 5% of people enjoying a 200% pay raise.

The VDA list is published on FLICA and any additions to a schedule is on there (VDA or not). It's not that hard to figure out.

Add Long Call getting converted on their last day and the senior pilot getting the 0100 slot while the junior guy gets the 0800 slot to the list of items needing fixed.

As a senior LCR bidder this absolutely drives me crazy. Especially when they convert you for multiple days of early SCR like 0145 or something around it. There should be some sort of mechanism that allows you to choose by seniority what time you would prefer if you do get converted. You're almost guaranteed to get assigned something when they put you into that early AM time slot.

I think that A-slot is automatic BECAUSE it's your last day...but I also think they shouldn't be issuing you an A-silo that starts before 0400, because the CBA gets you released in 6 hours on the last day, but not before 1000, doesn't it?

I am wondering if FLICA would allow you to put a silo pref in BEFORE you get converted, because those are (supposedly) honored in seniority order.

Last day release is 6hrs or 11am, whichever is later. Additionally, all last day SCRs are auto-released at 1700.

I know LCRs can put in silo requests the same way a SCR does but I don’t think CS is required to honor it. The whole point of converting a LCR to SCR is for specific RAP coverage. So if you bid B as a LCR but they need a 0200 SCR conversion they will force you into that slot.

True, at least that’s the plan 😂

They need to honor your silo bid within your "days available" bucket. Assuming all legalities are met, LCR and SCR should be treated the same in assigning RAP start times. Of course there's no easy way to verify they are doing it the contractual way.
