Default 10 year anniversary party

Our MEC spent 120k on a 10 year anniversary party that 60 people attended.

Parties and Pub events are a waste of money. Change my mind.

I can see the point, but on the other hand I have zero desire to be an elected rep and answer calls from angry pilots all day/night. Yes they get FPL, steak dinners, 10yr parties, etc but if that’s the price to keep them in the position then so be it.

you are ok with a party that cost $2,000 per attendee as a good use of funds?

Im not asking for them to give up all their perks. I'm asking if that is a reasonable amount of dues spent for an event?

Yes, every 10yrs they can throw a party for 60 people and spend $120k on it. Alternatively would you be upset at another ~5.5hrs of FPL for 60 CAs over the next 10yrs?

The MEC and lec officers get plenty of opportunity to blow off steam during the offsite MEC meetings where they are simultaneously getting buisness done. I will never be ok with spending this amount of money on a single event that only has 60 attendees.

btw this party was entirely at the discretion of the MEC chairman.

The JFK LEC also chose to forgo the FPL for the record..

You should have seen the bills that got uncovered of the Eagle MEC gatherings back in the day.

Sorry but this is absolutely nutso.

This is members money. Our money. There's already enough distrust when it comes to spending, but now we're going to go ahead and just be okay with a $2k/head party, all because it's been 10 years? They're elected members, not celebrities. Absolute waste of funds and completely unprofessional.
