That’s correct. The 8k filing is very Specific:
“The Company is not in negotiations or discussions with any other airline regarding a merger, acquisition or similar strategic transaction and has not been in any recent discussions with any airlines regarding the same” I don’t see how anyone can read this and come to any conclusion other than United has NOT approached an airline to discuss m&a. There is nothing more and nothing less to take from that 8-k filing, thus not disproving anything jonNYC said. Now other click baiting bloggers took, jonNYCs tweet, and made an entire story about it, and filled in gaps that weren’t there. Nothing in that 8k filing covers internal interest, or shuts down the possibility of a discussion at a later date. id say insanity, is reading what isn’t there. bro that girl is kind of attractive I’m thinking of asking her out. Oh cool have you talked to her yet. Nah bro but I might. I agree I am not saying there is a merger or anything but the tweets from Jonnyc and the filing from United do not contradict each other. United said they are not in discussions (with) another airline. Jonnyc said they were looking at JetBlue but his info said it was all from United not JetBlue. I’m going to put an offer on a house, oh did you contact the seller yet. Nope. I have no doubt they want jet forward to work, however that does not stop anyone from making an offer. Truth is none of us know all we can do is hope the ELT has a clue. |

This article provides insight into the Trump administration’s dual approach to mergers and acquisitions. On one hand, the administration is relaxing regulatory constraints to encourage deal-making across industries. On the other, it remains committed to antitrust enforcement, particularly in sectors prone to monopolistic practices. Gail Slater, nominee for Assistant Attorney General, dodged direct questions about the JetBlue-Spirit merger but hinted that under her leadership, the DOJ would take a more flexible approach—favoring negotiated remedies over outright merger blocks. She is commited to strong antitrust enforcement but also suggested that mergers may be approved with conditions, rather than being automatically denied. The trump administration has a very "out with the old and in with the new" approach. They have every intention to replace agressive regulators with less stringent ones. This will be good for a proposed airline merger. Airline mergers are not off the table, but they will likely require consent decrees and concessions to move forward. Airlines will still face scrutiny, but they will find it easier to negotiate approvals under the Trump administration than the Biden. Biden's peeps were apparently hell bent on manipulating the system at every turn to block any and all M&A, just to generate a body count to appease their extremist wing. |
