I got picked up off the last window and am currently waiting for a class date. Here was my experience:

I put in an app in Aug 2014. I forgot to add my resume and had no letters of recommendation. I did not go to Vets in Blue or any other conference for that matter, nor did I know anyone in the company (no internals). All I had was my profile and application.

I'm a former military pilot with about 3500 TT 2500PIC at the time; no 121 time. Undergrad and graduate degree. I received a call from a recruiter who asked me to verify things like hours, medical, ATP etc. He asked me if I had any failed checkrides etc. I failed carrier quals in flight school and was re-designated to another platform, so yes I had a scarlet letter. He emailed me a packet I had to fill out and send back. One of the things I had to send in was an explanation of my failed checkride. I explained it as best I could, stated I've never struggled since, and wrote what I learned from the incident. It was briefly touch on in the interview. I told them that as long as their are no plans to start landing an Airbus on a carrier, I shouldn't have problems in training... There is no rhyme or reason to how people get selected for interviews. I flat out asked the HR person on my panel what it takes to get an interview call (I have several friends who are trying to get on with JB) and she had no idea.

The interview itself was a great experience. I met pilots from all walks of life. The company is fantastic. From reading this forum and from talking with JB pilots I know from my Reserve squadron, the company has a lot of pros but also has some issues its working through. Long-term I'm certain it will be a great place to work, and am looking forward to classing up in the next month or two.

I have no TPIC time, I've been shooting to all the airlines.

B6 is the best choice for me since I live in FL. Probably could hold FLL (1-2years?) and eventually MCO (4-5 years?).

I want to be part of the training academy eventually, since I always liked flight instructing. I also apply to the off the street instructor position everytime I see the position open.

Contrary to popular belief, there isn't a spot for everyone at a legacy carrier even with the Big 3 hiring in droves now. A place like JB is better than slugging it out at a regional.

That, plus personal choices. Not everyone wants to fly for the Big 3.

Are you sure BOS is easier commute than JFK?

Thanks for the replies. I live 5 min from IAD employee parking, so thats my ideal commuting airport. For example:
Tomorrow there are 6 flights IAD-JFK. Split between E145 and E190
Tomorrow there are 7 flights IAD-BOS. smallest plane is a CRJ7, the largest is a 757. Theres a lot more seats to get up there.

I can always use LGA as a back up plan, but for some reason I'm dreading the commute to NYC al lot more than BOS...

I've been at JetBlue for a while and have no desire to go to a legacy. I have plenty of PIC time, 7 type ratings, BA, MBA and no accidents or incidents. AA, DL, UAL aren't for me. I'm not part of the JB cult and I commute. I just don't want to work at those carriers.

After we get a CBA JetBlue will be even better.

The good news is JFK/BOS are the most junior bases. You can try one and swap to the other if the commute doesn't work out. I was originally JFK based and it took about 8months before I was flying trips out of BOS. It all depends on when you are hired in relation to our System Bids (allows you to switch bases). The bids come out the 1st week of March, June, September, December and as long as you start class by the time it comes out then you can bid and move bases. Typically there is a 2-3month delay after the bid before you actually start in the new base. Good luck to all!

If it helps, I did not upload ANY letters when I applied, because I didn't think I knew anyone at jetblue. I also never talked to a recruiter. I got the call to interview in September and couldn't take it for personal reasons, but they were able to give me an OCT 16 interview. They had you bring up to 3 LORS + 1 internal to your interview. I brought a couple from 2 FO's I had flown with, a LCA, and one internal who I heard through the grapevine got hired and I reconnected with him. Started class 2 weeks ago.

7500 TT and 2100 TPIC. 4 yr degree, volunteer for a couple different organizations.

Hope this helps!

Thank you.
