Lol, that didn't take long to get the my dads cooler than your dad, I get stuff and you don't from the snot nosed peanut gallery.

Getting long call is a function of seniority and coverage over the average.

I get weekends off and usually start on Mondays and Tuesdays. Usually that gets me 2-4 LCL in a month. Sometimes 6-8.... Sometimes zero. Ymmv. The guy one number junior to me may get less LCL. After the first trips of the monthly get dolled out its no longer a function of seniority, it's all about the credit.

Bottom line, getting freebee days off on RSV here is a crapshoot. Don't expect it, enjoy it when you get it.

I agree with this with the minor addition that seniority doesn't mean much when it comes to getting LCR. It is determined by who has the highest credit for the month to date (and how many days in a row you are working). Seniority only counts as a tie-breaker if you have the same credit hours for the month.

What he said ^^^ during the peak season (summer) don't expect it. During the trough months (September-October-beginning of November) more likely. January is also slow. This is when from my experience when I was on RSV is when I saw LCR and 2 rounds of PRL with some early REL thrown in as well.

Is it fairly easy to move days around on a resv schedule? Can a resv pick up a trip to avoid the short call?

Depends on the coverage. For example, tomorrow we need 6 guys on reserve and we have 6, so there's no moving that day. I've been trying for a month. Monday? We need 5 and have 18. I could do whatever I wanted to that day. Also, likely 10 guys will get LCR for that as a LOT of guys are starting a 4 day stretch on Mondays.

I tend to need Fridays off, which means I start on a Saturday. As the weekends are normally not overstaffed at all, I rarely get LCR due to coverage. If I started on Mondays like a lot of the senior guys who want weekends off do, I'd get a lot of LCR days.

If there's a trip in open time you'd rather fly instead of getting SCR, you can bid for it through FLiCA. Just make sure you use the correct spot to bid for it. Using the normal open time bid spot instead of the reserve assignment one will just get you denied since you've already got a reserve day covering that period. I used to do that all the time in BOS when I saw I'd be sitting around the crashpad for 3 days.

Moving days is pretty easy, depends on staffing of course.

Reserves can bid to fly open trips. Bidding closes at 7am the day prior to trip start, and reserve assignments come out around 12noon the day prior. The bidding goes by seniority, so once you get some people below you it helps.

Now is not the time to pinch pennies. Contact emerald coast interview consulting and attend an in person session. If you cant do that, at least do the online prep. You will thank me later.
