Who else other than UPS is making the money you guys are? I just have to laugh at my old airline saying there is no money in freight.

I'm sure you're aware of the long history of non-union airlines, other carriers pay scales, work rules, and retirements. If not, that information is readily available.

A wise man once said: "Those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

Is this the same union that was at Eastern, Pam Am, and TWA?

Is this the same union that allowed the commuters to fly RJs rather than the mainline?

Is this the same union that allows the companies to pay their F/Os $17,000 a year?

We all know how secure (most) everyones retirement funds are these days at those airlines.

You're right history does not favor a non union airline. At the same time it has not done much for their own carriers as well.

hat's off to you: finally someone been around here long enough to know the real story....

this forum is filled with (BRIGHT YOUNG/NEW AIRLINE PILOTS) folks who really don't understand or have not been told the real truth. Alot of them have been brow beat by more senior forum members for asking good questions about LCC's, startups, and the state of the industry and have been filled with the "old" Union story line.....

i grew up in EVV and wanted to fly for TWA....never got the chance....i appreciate your great career and contributions...

sincerely,

To all FDX and UPS guys:
Stop posting until you work for a real airline flying real people and trying to make a living at it. In case you have not noticed we are NOT competing with you. You fly dead things at night, enjoy your cash and shut up.

P.S. Ever read our 5 year contract? Enjoy the purple juice.

A330, wow thanks for nice reply. I was very fortunate to have flown for such a GREAT airline! The pilot group bar non are the best I have ever been around. TWA hired Captains not First Officers/Flight Engineers and when they said you are all Captains in training they meant it. They never had the "now let me show you something sonny" attitude. There was no egotistical or white scarf Captains saving the day. They treated all of us with respect and that I will never forget.

It was sad to watch her demise at the end and the stress level that was put on my family and I was unimaginable. We actually had Flight Attendant who was also a friend commit suicide and left two children behind. I would never wish what happened to our group on to anyone.

I have a lot of emotions when it comes to the all mighty union and unfortunately many of the members do not even know the entire story. Someday it will all be out but until then. I have not a clue why Herndon, VA allows half of the work rules and work environments to even exist! But they do and pilots keep taking it so the companies keep dishing it.

Again, thanks for the kind words in your post.

Don't most UPS and FDX guys start out by flying people at one point or another?

That's the great thing about the Gman. Just by posting he demonstrates the folly of Blue Kool-Aid addiction.
