Let's see how well this post ages... Hope I'm wrong though and they do hire like mad..

They're pretty far behind on the 777. Will need to backfill 767 I'd imagine at some point. The problem is going to be contract sim time in the current environment. The company only owns 747 sims.

How hard is going to be for a regional FO to get on that actually wants to work there versus the threat of a furlough at their shop?

Depends. Not sure how the company will handle pilots from TSA or Compass. We done preferred hiring when ASA went under.

If you've waited until now to apply, I'd suggest that you waited too long. The TSA and Compass guys should rightfully get preference as they are actually unemployed.

whether the company chooses to do that or not, is completely up to them. There isn’t a line to stand in. The ASA situation was a case of perfect timing. The company wanted to expand quickly, and there was a large pool of qualified applicants. It may not happen this time, so just apply and see what happens.

Lookit, I am sure you don't mean any offense. But a few things you may not know.
1. The application has not been open for several months now.
2. I did not meet the historical minimums until this past January.
3. Refer back to 1., the app has not been open for several months now.
4. It's still not open.

I'm not saying that fellow ALPA carriers who are out of work should not receive a preferential interview. I'm simply asking if I view K4 as an option, not a lack of options - what are the chances of getting hired now?

completely get point 1 and all other points. My reply wasn’t directed at you personally and not meant to be offensive, it’s just my view based on the last 5 weeks in general.

Real answer: I interviewed most recently and my guess is the lowest TPIC time was maybe 1300TPIC (we all for sure had +1000TPIC). So, if you're an FO there's that. Keep in mind though, now everywhere is pilot-heavy going into this foreseeable future, (at least treading VERY carefully) therefore, preferred minimums are going to rise. It's the only way to shorten the app stack for an already shortened number of positions. Internal LOR's help tremendously also.
Stay at your regional, upgrade and get TPIC. Good luck.

I offer a gentle counterpoint. Upfront, I do not work for Kalitta. Worse I work for Atlas, from which too many of my fellow pilots parachute into other airline's issues. Well actually 5, but that is besides the point.

Many years ago when the dinosaurs roamed and PATCO had struck I got hired into what was at the time a pretty good job - because I was not at the top of the qualification pile. The thinking of management being [I learned much later] that while they wanted qualified pilots, they didn't want pilots who would be punching out at the first opportunity.

I have no idea what any given airline's HR department and Chief Pilots are thinking. At this moment they probably don't know either. But if you think that a job would fit you then throw in an application. And then keep knocking at the door. Over and over again.

As an old, cranky 61 year old I value FOs who have PIC time. But more than that I value FOs who are curious, inquisitive and give a ****. And above all else -- understand that ACMI flying is all about the latter. Crossing a lot of water and going into Africa is not like a STL turn.
