If you've waited until now to apply, I'd suggest that you waited too long. The TSA and Compass guys should rightfully get preference as they are actually unemployed.

Not when they are getting Southern guys with 777 types and International widebody experience that can be run through the short course.

I offer a gentle counterpoint. Upfront, I do not work for Kalitta. Worse I work for Atlas, from which too many of my fellow pilots parachute into other airline's issues. Well actually 5, but that is besides the point.
Many years ago when the dinosaurs roamed and PATCO had struck I got hired into what was at the time a pretty good job - because I was not at the top of the qualification pile. The thinking of management being [I learned much later] that while they wanted qualified pilots, they didn't want pilots who would be punching out at the first opportunity. I have no idea what any given airline's HR department and Chief Pilots are thinking. At this moment they probably don't know either. But if you think that a job would fit you then throw in an application. And then keep knocking at the door. Over and over again. As an old, cranky 61 year old I value FOs who have PIC time. But more than that I value FOs who are curious, inquisitive and give a ****. And above all else -- understand that ACMI flying is all about the latter. Crossing a lot of water and going into Africa is not like a STL turn. I could be wrong but thats the way I see i, I guess my point is they will hire you if you have lots of experience without the fear you may jump to fedex as soon as you can. |

I'm sure many of us like the tenor of your post, I know I do. I dont know directly because I'm not involved with interviewing or hiring in anyway, but I dont believe they try to look inside someone's head to determine if they might leave. in the last year we've hired guys in there 40's and 50's with 10,000+ hrs and years of command time in big airplanes along with very young lower time guys. I think the most important criteria in the interview is whether they think the applicant is the type of person the rest of us wouldn't mind being on the road with for 16 days and in the tube with for 20 hrs.

Stop lying, you’re making the jump to Delta as soon as you get the chance. :)

This COVID thing I believe has convinced some that Kalitta offers a bit more job security than they initially thought.

In hindsight, it’s something maybe I should’ve pursued a long time ago....... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
When nothing is left of the world but smoldering rubble....from the ashes will rise rats, roaches and KALITTA!

What's the word on the street about upcoming interview dates? Might they switch to the Skype format?
