Those of you that had someone walk your resume in, how long between the time it was walked in and the time you got a call?

This will not be helpful to you but it is most definitely a factor of WHO did the walking.

Can you elaborate? A senior Captain compared to a new hire FO walking it in?

Yes, in many respects this place still operates like a small company. The small group of people who look at resumes are more likely to call someone recommended by a pilot they have known and worked with for several years. If a known quantity does a recommendation it is most likely looked at differently than a relatively new hire with little track record of their own. Probably like most places all recommendations are not equal and depending on the recommender could possibly even be detrimental.

As an aside, we don't usually "walk in resumes" anymore. We have a form that we can fill out and if one feels especially strongly about a recommendation it may be followed up with a call or email to people if you have a relationship with someone. This is not currently encouraged as the people doing the hiring nowadays are stretched very thin and don't have a lot of time for being lobbied.

Thanks sky jet,
Makes sense. I’m sure there are a lot of apps/resumes to filter through. Keeping my head down low and my hopes up high.

If so, how hard it is to have scheduling start/finish your tip or you start/finish your flying at one of those destinations? Years pass I know of a few pilots that commuted from Thailand and the Philippines via VHHH, and those that live around Europe commuted from EHAM/EBLG because there was a flight every day to those airports. Yes, I know there is no such "official" language in your CBA; just wandering if this is still happening and if it is possible now? Any detail information would be appreciated, Thanks.

Border rules fluctuate weekly now. That pesky Covid thing. Who knows how this will play out as a international commuter, but I don't feel positive about it short-term

Just curious. What kind of hotels does Kalitta put you in on the on the 76 schedule vs. the 74 schedule?

for most locations the layover hotels at 767 destinations will be closer to the airport than the other fleets, that being said, we have a fantastic hotel committee who have been making lots of changes over the last 6 months

a 76 guy would have to chime in for the most accurate info tho

Awesome, so where were you then and where are you now? Just an example. Y’all have some good digs overseas from what I’ve seen, but not enough to judge overall.

it was never the overseas hotels that were the problem. Our domestic ones were really bad (like the 5 towns in JFK). Now its a lot more Marriott and Hilton properties than it was, and less middle of nowhere off brand ones.
