The ALPA email newsletter I get had the following blurb re Kalitta hiring:
ASA AND KALITTA MECS TEAM UP FOR PREFERENTIAL HIRING OPPORTUNITIES
The ASA MEC, facing an airline loss of all mainline flying by the end of this year, collaborated with the Kalitta Air MEC and management to create a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes a preferential hiring program for legacy ASA and legacy ExpressJet pilots. Under the MOU, Kalitta Air will interview and hire up to 150 pilots through December 31, 2018.
"Thus far, the program has been a great success for both ASA and Kalitta MECs," said Capt. Chromer Smith, ASA MEC chair. "The good news is every ASA pilot who wants a job or needs one, while they sort out their futures, has one."
The Kalitta Air interview team scheduled two rounds of interviews with ASA pilots—one in August and one taking place today and tomorrow. The accepted applicants find out by the end of the session if they're hired. "During the first session in August, Kalitta hired 36 ASA pilots," Smith said. "And when the Kalitta team debriefed us prior to heading home, they couldn't say enough about the spirit and character of the ASA pilot group. We know they'll get another good round of applicants this week, as only 7 slots remain for the 80-some preferential interviews."
Other ALPA carriers have joined Kalitta in giving ASA pilots a leg up in the interviewing process, be it formally or informally. For example, Delta gave all ASA pilots a bump in their interview process. "A big debt of gratitude goes to our fellow ALPA pilot leaders and our staff, who have been instrumental in orchestrating this effort," Smith said.

Have they set a date for the January classes? In the pool, just waiting for a class date.

For those in this end of year, swimming in the the pool business, I get it...just hang in there. I know it feels like they'll never call and they forgot about you but I assure you they have not. I was in the same boat when I got hired. I had to turn down a class in Oct. because I couldn't give a full two weeks notice and didn't end up going to class until Feb of next year.
Hope this eases some concerns of those swimming...

Glad to see that you made out of your previous shop!
Two questions for planning purposes.
1. Do we get parking at any of the major airports such as JFK? If not, do those going out of JFK just take mass transit? I've done this to JFK so no big deal.
2. Does training drive on through Thanksgiving or are there days off?
Thanks.

KA 401k
I'm not sure anyone has asked this, but what is their 401k like?
I see the matching and understand that, but I have a few more questions.
(1) Is it a Safe Harbor plan?
(2) Who is the plan through? (Fidelity or other)
(3) Does the plan offer a self-directed broker option? and at what %?
Meaning, you can invest/trade in whatever you want versus just what funds are available.

(3) No, there are only a limited number of plans. However in those you can invest any percentage you want.
The match is 100% match up to 5% not to exceed $10K match per year. Employee contributions are 100% vested. There is a vesting schedule for the company match which is basically:
>1 year =0%
1 year = 20%
2 year = 40%
3 year = 60%
4 year = 80%
5+ year = 100%
