Default International Jumpseat Question

Hey all. I’m looking to jumpseat to Korea, and I called the jumpseat desk and they said I can. However, they said they didn’t know how it would work on arrival in Korea. I know that passengers are required to take a covid test on arrival right now. Have any of you had a jumpseater to ICN recently? Any idea how it might work for me on arrival? Thanks!

Had a couple guys jump on us to S Korea a while back. No big deal. You’ll be on the GenDec and can just roll through immigration with the crew. No COVID test.

Awesome, thanks for the good info!

Just curious, what is it like jumpseating? Decent enough seats? Room to lay down? Any food?

If you ride on a Kalitta Air flight they will cater food for you and there should be a seat that is similar to old school Business Class on the 747. On the 777 the seats are a little smaller but have recline and foot and head rest. There is a chance that there might be an available bunk depending on the crew compliment scheduled to operate or deadhead on that particular flight and the aircraft configuration.

The jumpseat desk did say that I’d be counted as a passenger, and not listed as crew on the gendec. Is this how it usually is?

That person is wrong. Don’t worry about it…you’ll be fine.

Are you sure?
An individual not being operating crew, not being repositioned to operate, better yet not even employed by the company in question….that’s a passenger.
Walk right through with the crew? Maybe.
Then again, maybe not.

ahhh Fort Fumble is at it again with the misinformation. Yes, we just had a DHer out to ICN a couple days ago. You will be listed as an ACM (additional crew member) on the Gen Dec. You will fill out the yellow form and customs form when you get there and walk through everything with the crew. You will then part ways at the curb.

We do not carry passengers (with rare exceptions), and we do not have passenger manifests. You are a crew member.

I am technically not a DH, though, since it’s for leisure travel. But my fingers are crossed that I’ll ended up listed on the gen dec because that would definitely make things easier!

Was that person you had a DHer or an OA JS?

Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it!!

You really are over complicating this. Kalitta doesn’t care why you are riding along.

The guy we took was a Delta FO that had a girlfriend out in Korea, and he was on the gendec as a DHer
