If so, I'm glad you found a gig at home...

As I look forward I commute out today to fly my last 121 trip.... start on the Encore in a couple weeks for a part 91/135 company.

So Jet to answer you question... I was on the bubble... far enough up at RAH that I was probably safe from a F...... but not that safe if you get my drift. So I am punching early.... ONE that gets me a job NOW before they become very very hard to come by.... and TWO...it saves some guy under me at RAH a position at the company who really wants to be in the 121 world.

Good Luck.

That was quick. What are your plans as far as the training contract is concerned?

although this question is mostly for regional guys I'd like to say that I'm a little discouraged due to the fact that I started training back in September of 07 when a good # of pilots were getting hired with low times at airlines. I did know in the back of my head that it'd come to an end eventually and it did. Things aren't looking better and sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice.

Do I feel bad for my buddies at the flight school I got to?? Yeah I do mostly because every single one that I've talked to took out loans of around 90k to get through training, I even heard of one paying for his first officer job with Gulfstream academy (which they tried to get me into but I think paying the airline to hire you is totally bs) anyway, I had to work my butt of for about 6 months to save up enough money to get started and here I am, less than a year later working on my commercial and wondering if I should have bought a house instead with the market the way it is... Is it time to quit now?? Probably not even though things don't look so promising.

How do I like my chances??

I think I'll just hang in there for now. I'm still young (kinda) 23 and hope that eventually I'll be in the right place at the right time, I'm just glad I don't have to worry about paying back sallie mae or any of those entities 3 times the amount I took out for training. For now I'll keep working full time and flying at least 2 to 3 times a week...

PS. I've always wonder what it's like to land one of those bigger planes ?i.e ERJ 145 or 747 any comments on that? hehe

Congrats Herc on the new job.

Now to answer this comment:

Well, we were all once that guy in the C150 who was looking at the E145 going whats it like flying that bad boy... then I got to be an E145 driver and guess what I spend my time wondering while taxing by 777's? Its an endless cycle of wondering what flying that other bigger jet is like! LOL

Whoa!! A bigger plane? ERJ 145 or a 747? Thats a huge difference. I can't comment on the 747, but landing an ERJ 145 is easier than landing a C172. Just hold pitch and power, nice and stable down the slope, pull the power back a touch as you cross the threshold, at 20 feet or so above, chop the throttles...um thrust levers, sorry, pull back a touch to flare. Then, you'll have to pull back pretty good to keep the nose from slamming down, then brake.

Its very easy, trust me. 3 or 4 times and its solid.
