Plain and simple...What you experienced and what many others are experiencing is a toxic combination of world turmoil and financial ruination due to many factors beyond our control.

I just spoke to a pilot who's wife is a PHD in international relations. She applied at over 40 universities for a teaching position she was finally hired in Maine and that position had 150 qualified applicants all vying for the same job. It's not just aviation.

What didn't happen to you was the litany of common excuses and fantasy stories that are all so common and that you rationalize about in your posts. 9-11 and a world wide financial collapse killed your aviation career it had nothing to do with some UAL captain "royalty" you met in AK, or that your dad has to be a chief pilot for you to get hired or any other of the highly dramatized little digs that we are so often treated to in your posts.
Aviation has been on the downhill grind for a log time now. The financial collapse might be reaching you however guys at the lower levels of aviation have been in the dumps for quite a while.

She is TRYING to get a job with a local DA district in OK and has basically been put at the END OF THE LINE behind a group of INTERNS who haven't even taken and/or passed the bar exam yet. IF this person happens to land this job it will be for a starting salary of $37,500.

I often hear advice on this forum to go to law school; because just like every pilot makes $150,000/year - we all know of course that every lawyer makes in the high 6 figures $$$ too - right?

USMC my wife is a Commercial Real Estate Atty and most of THEM are on the street right now with what has happened to real estate. She shares a story like the atty you speak of in your example. After a year of no work, my wife finally landed a job @ $40,000 per year teaching law at a arts and entertainment university and it was very competitive. she works among other attys who can't believe what has happened to them. Just like aviation where a bunch of pilots are doing something they don't want to do.

Is there ever a day when you wake up and DON'T feel compelled to tell your sad story for the 5000th time?

You should have stopped after the first one. However, I do use your rhetoric as a bowl cleansing session.

brianb,

Yours and my career progressions seem to be nearly identical. The only reason why I can figure that you like stalking me with insults is that you are privately afraid of falling to the same fate as I.

It is understandable. You are flying for a shaky start up. I would be afraid too. Please don't take it out on me though. If you want to offer some new ideas or to contradict my post with some thoughtful observations then please do.

However your slander is juvenile and beneath you. All it serves is to make you look like a child.

Wow, this is pot calling the kettle black in it's purest form.

You refuse to see anyone's point, but your own. Whenever anyone makes a credible argument against your case or the possible slew of misfortunes you have had to endure in your career, you completely ignore it. You are your own biggest fan, and your posts pretend to be informative and caring while being nothing more than putrid self-loathing drivel.

End of the day, you haven't moved on. You try and rationalize your misfortunes by bringing others down through this outlet that is designed to inform others about the ins and outs of aviation.

You have the audacity to call other posters on this thread "childish", when every one of your pathetic stories mirrors the actions of a kid who takes his ball and goes running home after getting hurt. Growing up means licking your wounds, counting your blessings, and truly moving on with one's life. You, on the other hand, continue to whine and moan.
Grow up.

Healthy debate is one thing and name calling another. All this guy does is to spread mindless slander. It is uninteresting and unattractive. You could try a little harder too by the way.

It is a hobby of mine. I enjoy analyzing the industry and profession. I also like writing. Aviation has been a lifelong passion of mine. I have been on APC for several years now so the posts add up.

PS I meant that you should try harder to engage in rational debate not to generate more mindless posts.
