Can anyone speak to how long it takes from initial contact to interview offer?

Per their request, after their initial reply to my application, I sent my flight times as well as desired locations last Wednesday, and haven’t heard anything back yet.

I assume the normal timing is not what I can expect - Just want to know when to follow up to make sure I don’t get lost in the process.

Don't expect anything quickly. They (HR) work at the speed of government.

Flight Standards has reached its hiring target for FY2020. Some ASI positions, especially in hard to fill locations might get filled prior to September 13 (last full PP of the FY) but those will be based on separations between now and September 30. For Q1 on FY 2020, they are planning a risk-based approach on onboarding ASI's, also based on separation to stay at the mandated staffing number. There are many in the queue who have TOL's, they will be first to be onboarded. If you don't have a TOL, I would expect to wait 9-12 months.

When you say "Flight Standards" do you mean all positions at the FSDOs (even admin and technical positions) or are you strictly referring to ASIs?

Did you get notified that your background check was complete? I have not heard anything in months. Are they still processing them with Covid?

Yes, Flight Standards is the line of business within the FAA where most of your ASI's reside. FSDO's and CMO's are located in FS.

I understand that. My question, and I do believe I asked it clearly, was if ALL positions in Flight Standards are on a hiring freeze due to reaching the hiring target, and not just ASI positions.

The reason I ask is that I interviewed, several months ago, for a technical position in one of the FSDOs and my application on USAJobs has been showing "Referred" ever since with nothing but crickets otherwise. I guess my only real option for an update is to email the HR contact in Ft. Worth associated with this vacancy announcement.
