Default Other Careers within the Aviation Field?

I was aspiring to become a commercial pilot and was looking at colleges to attend for aviation training. So I called Transport Canada to make sure I could get a CAT1 medical (needed for a CPL in Canada). Turns out that my heart condition restricts me from getting a CAT1 and CAT2 medical so becoming a controller is also out of the option. I can still hold a CAT3 so I can still get a PPL which I am trying to get through cadets (still got a lot of work to do for that) so I am thankful for that.

I was talking to my father who is a controller about other options of what I can do, but I would like to see more options I can choose from. I am thinking about going to college to be an AME or even work at Nav Canada as an FSS (that also has a medical exam I'm not sure I can pass). I know there are still tons of jobs within the Aviation community, but I'm not sure of where I can go when I graduate. I would prefer to keep in aviation but I by no means am going to restrict myself from other options outside of the field.

I currently hold a Glider license and am going to get my Grade 12 diploma by the end of June 2014.

Thanks for any suggestions

Tons! Go into engineering college, then on to design, flight test, or with civil engineering, go into airport design and management. Safety and security is a huge field nowadays.

Search the site, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of suggestions and things you can find that keep you in aviation.

Sales, insurance, fbo's to name a few where you would be surrounded by aviation

There's definitely tons! I assume you don't want to be loading bags for the rest of your life.. but hell if you have the patience for it you can even become a FA (no medical needed!).
