Actually pretty well known in The Netherlands. Just nobody really made a big deal about it as it's been his hobby. Europeans tend to respect privacy a little more.
I'd be interested to see the information you have on his civilian flying. My wife is an airline pilot who was born and raised in the Netherlands and has never heard of Willem-Alexander flying anything other than military aircraft.
