JetBlue and those 'Other Airlines'
Continental cancels all Newark departures through noon Saturday
"Continental Airlines canceled all flights to and from Newark Liberty International Airport through noon, except for one flight, the company said in a news release. The company did not return a call seeking comment.JetBlue spokeswoman Jenny Dervin said none of her company’s flights had been canceled in Newark on Saturday. Dervin said the company canceled some flights out of JFK in New York, but that Newark flights would only see delays of 20 to 30 minutes." 100,000 US Airways passengers still stranded "Thousands of weary travelers faced a third day waiting to reach their destinations Sunday as US Airways struggled to recover from the ice and snow storm that paralyzed airports in the Northeast. Computer problems, airline staffing rules and other problems slowed US Airways' attempts to clear the backlog. In addition, the airline's flights on Sunday were already nearly sold out with 275,000 passengers booked, the airline said." Royal Air Maroc flight sits 14 hours at Kennedy "Fourteen hours after boarding a flight to North Africa to take part in a 151-mile marathon across the Sahara, Jeremy Colgan completed an endurance feat of a different kind yesterday. He got off the plane, which never left Kennedy Airport. He got off the plane, which never left Kennedy Airport." Alitalia flight grounded for 10 hours "A Massapequa woman was among hundreds of passengers who sat on idle airplanes for hours at Kennedy Airport during the winter storm that ended yesterday. Sue Taliani, 54, of Massapequa, said passengers were aboard an Alitalia plane for 10 hours waiting for the aircraft to be deiced. The flight was finally canceled." Storm strands jets; Cathay sits for nearly 10 hours Hundreds of passengers were stranded for hours overnight on airliners that couldn't take off from John F. Kennedy International Airport because of the ice and snow storm that pummeled the Northeast. Rahul Chandran was trapped aboard a Cathay Pacific Airways jet from midnight until nearly 9:30 a.m. Saturday, when the flight to Vancouver was finally canceled. |
Doesn't matter.
Looks better when that amateur airline JB does it and still mucks it all up. |
Gman,
No matter how hard you try, being the media darling in NYC is a two edged sword. You loved the limelight, now endure the spotlight. |

Probably not. Neeleman's candor ("I'm mortified," he admitted) and swift, substantive response is already earning grudging respect from customers. BusinessWeek may have yanked JetBlue from its list of top 25 "customer service champs," but we think the airline, ever the innovator, will fly through hoops to reassure customers that its meltdown was a fluke.” Anything else? |

Impressed with the overal help of off duty pilots helping get the plane out, after their free ride. Have to say, always a great experience out of my hometown. And despite what Major Limeface whines about, you will have a union when you need one. Simple as that. But I doubt it will be ALPA with attitudes like his. One bad apple.......... |

I'm still waiting to see the innovation of the low cost carriers setting the new bar for pay. |
