Default Cal Mec Chairman Update

March 29, 2007

Fellow pilots,

This is my last message to you as MEC chairman. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support during my term and for the privilege of serving you. When Bob, Randy and I took office a little over one year ago, we were faced with the challenge of righting a ship that had gone off course. Many problems faced the MEC and the pilot group. I am proud to say that while problems do still exist, we were able to successfully resolve many issues outright and make significant progress toward resolving others. I will look back on our term of office as an important transition period in which we cleared the deck—a critical step that will allow the new officers and MEC to chart a clear course toward Contract ’08.

I also want to thank Bob and Randy for their service and support. Vice chairman Capt. Bob Reilly represented your interests with toughness, honesty and integrity. He carefully crafted and built up our committees, putting together a well oiled machine that is ready to move forward with the new MEC to “Take Back” from our Company what is owed to us in Contract ‘08. Under his direction, our committees achieved many wins for the pilot group this year and are poised to achieve even more. Randy managed our finances flawlessly, bringing a new level of accountability to the finances of CAL ALPA. He brought our finances into the sunshine, where all of you know how your hard earned dues are being spent! He has managed CAL ALPA into the first surplus since joining ALPA. These men were clearly instrumental in helping set the stage for the new chapter in your union.

I’m eagerly headed back to the line. I will be supporting my fellow pilots, the MEC and the new officers in our quest toward Contract ’08. I have seen first hand the importance of unity, and the tremendous strength that comes with it. I hope you will join me in offering your support as well.

Thank you for allowing us to serve! Fly safely.

Capt. Dave Earnest
CAL MEC Chairman

Fellow pilots,

I am privileged and honored to have been chosen to serve the Continental pilots as MEC chairman. My pledge to all Continental pilots is to provide dynamic leadership of a strong and effective team, focused on addressing the needs of the pilots in securing an industry leading Contract ’08. We will be strong in our approach, focused on our mission and dedicated to achieving what we have earned.

Since returning to CAL in 2004 from an extensive military service, I have witnessed the outstanding professionalism exhibited by the pilot group serve as the key element in Continental’s emergence as a profitable leader in the airline industry. It is time to be recognized for this critical contribution as a partner in success. It is time to claim what is rightly due to us and to demand our share.

I am confident that our new MEC team is focused and poised to successfully achieve our goals, addressing the needs and issues identified by the pilot group. We will stand firm in our commitment to the pilot group. You can be assured that we will conduct our every endeavor with the utmost integrity and visibility to earn your trust and confidence.

I am excited and energized by the talent and dedication evident in your representatives. With your support, we will accomplish our mission and secure an industry leading Contract ’08. I look forward to serving you.

Capt. Tom Donaldson
CAL MEC Chairman elect
