Just spoke to an exNK guy. Back in his hometown after commuting for 2 months, and off reserve after 6. he's at UA. Average AA pilot is probably 56, he could be younger than that and retire halfway up the list. Yeah, if he has 1 year left it makes sense to look at first year pay. I would take any of the big 6 over breeze/avelo/airbahn/skybus. Second year FO pay at the legacies is more than 2nd year captain pay at breeze.

That second year FO is in the dark somewhere at 3am doing red eyes still at the bottom of a long list gone from home even if he’s based where he lives, definitely if he’s at frontier or spirit. But ok he will be top 5%, some day. Ive got buddies at United trying to leave for FedEx and others. It’s not all sunshine and roses for all. Possibility of being at the top of the list now, day trips so you can be home etc is a good gig too. Assuming you upgrade quick, pay is still better than legacy FO short term. I’m sure pay will go up to better match the competitors, it’s a startup.

Pilots should never apologize for there spelling and grammar. If we were paid to be english majors we'd be working at Starbucks. (They're there their dude)

"Captain before this single engine approach to mins in a snowstorm in July...the passengers are asking you to take this spelling and grammars test." said no one ever.

I have similar experience to above and chose Breeze as A220 DEC over 757, 767 and 777FO offers, been there done that, not enough career time left for upgrade to factor in...,unless age 67 happens! lol
Like the A220, Breeze is a new and exciting career option for the right pilot.

Here is a reality check for anyone specifically looking at Breeze for Tampa… you should take a hard look at what we lunched with route wise and what we still have. You will see there has been very minimal growth in tampa overall.

The Ejet base was only two planes and it peaked at 14 CAs. Most of the Ejet flying was transitioned to the A220 with some of it remaining but being flown by other Ejet bases. So there is a little bit of room for new A220 routes for the two planes that will be based there, but as of now, there has been zero new routes announced on the A220 in tampa.

Not only is a large portion of the DEC A220 pilots trying to get TPA, but so will the more senior Ejet pilots who start transitioning to the A220 later this year.

So the reality is, if you are a DEC waiting for a class, expect any base other than TPA for the foreseeable future. If you are applying as an FO, it may be possible.

The company has stated numerous times they need to be able to shift in the market on a moments noticed and the last couple rounds of route announcements show that.

I’m not saying TPA will not grow in size with time, but with current fleet allocations and terminal space constraints, there are no present indications that they are attempting to make it the biggest base anytime soon.

So I’m a fairly low hour FO at a regional right now (about 140 hours 121 time). I’m looking at Breeze because of the CHS base. I would love to continue to build my 121 time at my current regional but with the way the industry is I am worried that my company will cease to exist in the next year or so. I am all about quality of life and Breeze offering the CHS base makes it the only airline with a base close enough to me where I could also potentially upgrade to captain quickly. I currently don’t know much about Breeze so I have a few questions…

1. How quickly/easily could I hold CHS as an FO?

2. How much flying could I expect to do there per month?

3. How quick could I upgrade to Captain?

4. What QOL things should I know about Breeze.

Also, my long term goal is AA so I’m looking to really grind until I have 1000 hrs (or less) of 121 PIC then go over to AA as quickly as they accept me.

You could be a Captain making 270 an hour in 3 years at most legacies.

Way outdated information WRT legacies.
Newhires are getting off of reserve very quickly at the legacies. I've flown with newhires who were never on reserve; almost all were off of reserve within a couple of months.

Any current Breeze pilots give any tips or advise about the interview. I have the final face to face coming up next week.
